Easter Egger club!

Sorry
The age difference is 3months to 7month age differences I have young and older in one coop but want to merge them into my oldest coop because I'm going to build a new coop and use this one for my jungle fowl.

Just saw this! Replies are showing up in weird order on my mobile. I've heard that younger will always yield to older. So combining flocks of hens, the lead hen of the older group will put the younger head hen in her place and then the others just fall in line below. But maybe you might have more dominant younger females push to out rank less dominant older hens? Usually it is accomplished with just some well placed harmless pecks and they sort themselves out. I have seen a newly introduced rooster just do a display where he jumped on all the hens heads to show he was in charge, but that didn't long and then he strutted and was a perfect gentleman taking care of the new girls.

I have one Easter Egger hen named Moby. Will add pictures of her later. She's the Typical brown and black EE but there's something different about her - maybe it's the gray underfeather but she sure is cute (and hawk-looking)!

We are getting 1 or 2 EE chicks in two weeks! Plan on continuing with the masculine name Moby Dick theme and their names will be Queequeg and Starbucks

Sorry for the double post but here's Moby. Has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen on a chicken. Also an impressive bunch of tail feathers. Her eggs are also so a gorgeous pale blue green.

Five to seven month olds are a tough bunch. I have my three month old chicks out now with the 5 month old pullets. The older ones are especially mean to the younger ones. My old hens just ignore them, but I've seen all of the five month olds line up in front of the tree so the little ones can't enter the yard. It looks like a football game with the younger chicks trying to run around the side. I know it is all part of the pecking order and learning how to fit in with the flock. Fortunately they are out free ranging and have lots of room to get away.

Very pretty birds! I love our easter eggers and they are nice but they are sorta skittish. Do any of you know how to fix that?

My EE girls are half and half. I had 4, 2 were very friendly and the other very standofish. Sadly we lost our favorite and friendliest to a fox last week. But I will say they are starting to warm up more since they started to lay eggs.
