Easter Egger club!

Well, there you go, thanks. I just picked them because they seemed "nice". I had no clue when I picked them that they were "easter eggers', even though I'd heard the term.

EDIT: These are my girls

The black one (Australorp cross) is called Grace, and the white (light sussex cross) is called Marcy. I have no details about their parentage, I got them from the chook farm.

Those sound like they'll be delightful! Can you post pictures of the parents?

Thanks! I'm excited about how they'll turn out! I don't have photos of the parents ( I really need to post updated flock pics!) The mother looks like a white d'Uccle only with out feathers on her feet, and the father was a silver duck wing colored EE.

is the rooster also a bantam?

The father is technically a LF rooster, but he was on the small side (probably 3-4 Lbs) The chicks all take after their mother and are small. I expect them to be about 1.5 to 2 Lbs when full grown.

I have 140 chickens which include 10 different breeds. With that being said, I have to say that my faithful EE are the best! That is my happy coop where everyone in there just seems happy and glad that I'm there. They are awesome!!

She just laid. First blue egg in months. I almost forgot how pretty those blues look in a carton of brown. Now hopefully the pullets start soon. One was trying out a box this morning, so they should start laying very soon.

Quote: I had a porcelan D'uccle rooster mate with full size EE and produced a large blue feathered-legged rooster. Size wise, he can compete with any other male - you'd never know he has such at tiny father. He is allowed to roam the yard away from the hens so I don't end up with more feathered-legs in the egg laying flock but is too big to be in the bantam pen.

Junebuggena, everyone is getting hatch crazy around here and I have plenty of extra eggs to let people have some fun with backyard mutts. I have a Light Brahma rooster with a couple EE's. This one lays a pretty green egg

this one lays a light blue egg....

is there any chance that the chicks would be blue/green egg layers in the chicks or just larger mutts?

You have the potential for green or brown layers with that rooster. Depending on the hens' genes you've got about a 50% chance of getting green egg layers.
