Easter Egger club!

Do EE mature slower than say Bantams or larger chickens like buff orphingtons? My EE Ginger is the same age as most of my other birds, but so far I haven't seen any green tinted eggs, just the tiny white Bantam eggs and the larger brown eggs from my buffs...just wondering. They're all about 7 months old now. This is Ginger...

There is a huge range of 'normal' for Easter Eggers. They aren't really a breed, but a type of bird. As such, they haven't been bred for anything specific, just that blue eggshell gene. Some will start laying at 18 to 20 weeks old, others don't lay until 8 or 9 months old. It's all normal for them.

Okay, I was worried that something was wrong with her. Thank you!

I was just looking at the calendar to figure out when my new little girls were born (easier to figure out their age counting on from a proper date than trying to add to their age when I got them). If my older girl was born at the end of October (approx 12 weeks when I got her on 11 Jan 16) and they start laying at around 6 months, she might be due to lay in April.

My little easter egger might turn out to be a little Easter egger in more ways than one.

We finally got our first eggs from our Easter egger girls!
They are a dark greenish brown.

Not the blue I'd hoped for, but yay eggs!!
