Because the egg-laying genetics are unknown/unpredictable. You can get a bunch of them from the same place, and still have a rainbow of possibilities. They can have the potential to lay blue, green, brown, pink, cream, or white and there really isn't any way to tell which color a pullet will lay until she actually starts laying.Why are they called Easter eggers
I think that's what they are widely known as. I just bought mine as araucana crosses (hybrids), I didn't know they were "easter eggers" until after I got them.Thank you. If I wanted to purchase some is that what I would call them? "Easter eggers"
