She looks like an Easter Egger to me, and yes, they could potentially have the genetics to lay blue, green, cream, pink, or brown. You never know what color you're going to get until they start laying.
These are very pretty little girls.Just added these 8 week old cuties to my flock today, I was told they were pullets so keeping my fingers crossed..
That cross will give you barred chicks of both sexes . All with 1 barring gene . Can not be sexed at hatch because of all having 1 barring gene .Question: If I have a barred rock roo and an ameraucana hen...could I get barred pullets? I was told the reverse would result in barred males. I am trying to figure out how to get barred pullets, if possible. Thanks
An Americana (Easter Egger) is the offspring of a blue egg layer and a brown egg layer so, yeah.
What gorgeous birds, they almost look like doves!
Incorrect. Ameraucana are a recognized breed that only lays blue eggs. Hatchery Easter Eggers are a landrace-type that are descended from the original import stock of what used to be called 'Araucana'. They are not crossbreeds. They haven't been bred towards a specific standard, so there is a huge variety in both feather coloring and egg colors. No such breed as Americana. An Americana (Easter Egger) is the offspring of a blue egg layer and a brown egg layer so, yeah.
