Excellent! I would LOVE to get an egg from my EE like your aqua egg. I can hardly wait. 22 1/2 weeks old now. One of the OEs who came out of molt finally started laying again; it's been weeks. Weird though as they have always used the nest box and this afternoon she was running back and forth from the coop area to under a bush yakking all the time. I've never heard her do that. I retrieved an egg from the bush area later where she'd excavated a dirt nest. I wonder if the change is due to the fact that I had the old matron hen euthanized last week. Everyone is getting along though. I'll keep an eye on 'em.I can't believe how many new layers there are in the flock right now, especially since the mornings have been in 20 degrees cooler than usual. The two brown eggs are from an Australorpington that's only five months old. The two white eggs are from a white leghorn the same age. They are both laid their first egg on Friday. The olive egg on the lower right of the yellow carton is also from a first time layer. My sweet little pullet was so nervous. She ran back and forth, just pacing, for a whole hour. She was in and out of the nest box, pacing, clucking and just crazy acting. Finally, she squatted down right next to me and laid her perfect little egg in the dirt. The aqua one right above it is a sort of new egg layer... She's been laying eggs for about a week now. Sorry about the long write-up. I'm so proud of my little baby chicks that grew up to be such productive little pullets.![]()
