How true is the comb sexing? I've seen a lot of people saying that if it has 3 lines of peas to the pea comb its a boy, and if it has one line of peas in the comb its a girl. I'm asking because at this point my 8 week old is a boy, my two 6 week olds have 3 rows the middle one is starting to rise, and in my two 3 week olds one has 3 rows forming and the eldest by a day still doesn't have more than the single pea row. Did I end up with 4 boys and a girl? I'm never going to get pretty eggs at this rate...

I have 4 EE hens 1 EE rooster. All the hens combs grew at different rates. I even have one girl who has a dark comb and about 3 inches bigger then her friends. They are all the sane age. Did u get them from a pullet bin? I have another EE who has a wavy comb not pea. Someone on sight told me it was just a gene factor. Post some pics. Great people with great knowledge on this sight.

One of my 21 week old EEs whom I thought was not laying yet left me a surprise in another section of the barn this week. This is an old brooder.

Yesterday I caught her flying over the 12 ft coop wall in the barn and witnessed her laying this egg.

Caramel, just grew a peacomb. Boy? 3 weeks old

Cocoa, wouldn't sit still, feathering in faster, girl? 3 weeks old

Luna, the rows just popped up... Boy? 6ish weeks old

Ambrosia, maybe a boy too? 6ish weeks old

Any help would be apriciated.

Caramel - Can't tell
Cocoa - Pic is blurry, but looks like a pullet.
Last two are cockerels for sure. A 6 week old pullet will not have red in its comb. You can also tell by the feather coloring on Luna that he's a boy.

Here are my EE cockerel and pullet at 6 weeks. The difference in comb is obvious here and the cockerel had already been crowing for more than a week.

My chicks will be four weeks old this Monday. My. EE , Opal, just had a dust bath and was chilling when I took this picture.

I moved them all to the big coop yesterday. Last night was their first night. This morning I coaxed them out the pop door and they stayed out all day in the run having a ball. At dusk, I went out there to put them back in the coop and they had already put themselves to bed in the coop! I was amazed that they figured it out so quickly! In a lot of ways, I think chickens are smarter than most people! :D
