Easter Egger club!

Hope it Is ok I post here I am going today to pick out my first Easter eggers from my local feed store any advice on what to look for so I don't end up with more rooster than hens thanks

How exciting!!!!! Most the time the are marked but if not ask a worker during the week most will have someone there that knows how to tell. Otherwise I believe if you check the wings? Correct me if I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time and certainly won't be the last ;) hehe) I believe the girls have lines of feathers on their wings? So if you gently pull the wing out a bit and you have 2 rows of feathers you should have a girl. Again anyone else feel free to correct me!!!

I would just go for variety..

and as Rhett says if you can tell the difference go for the girls. I like having all different colors and patterns running around the yard.

On mine I could tell most of them by 4 or 5 weeks. There was one that was tricky and we had to wait until he grew in saddle feathers. He's 4 1/2 months old now and just started to crow this week. He's a bit of a late bloomer, but totally gorgeous.

As far as the chicks go, pick the ones who are the least friendly/outgoing. A lot of the time the males are super curious and will come right up to you.

This is my new EE girl. (She doesn't have a tail because she was packed in a cage with another chicken that thought it was fun to defeather the rest before I found her

Anyways I was wondering if anyone had any names I could use? I'm having a hard time thinking of one. Thanks!!

I like lynx Because #1 lynx have Bob tails and she looks kinda like the colors of a lynx Plus I just think lynx is a cool name!

Or a name that means second chance, or rescue, or I keep going back to that Bob tail. I know it will grow back but a name related to that Bob tail would be a good reminder that you saved her!

That's a great idea! Another thought, what about Serendipity? Sara for short?
