Easter Egger club!

Oh dear... a roo? Is it because of the coloring? It doesn't have much of a comb yet. Maybe another month and we'll know better.

The red on the wings and uneven pattern are what make me think roo, but EEs can be difficult to sex. Did you buy them sexed?

I bred them myself and hatched them with my first broody. Now I need to get out there and take more pictures. That's okay. I LOVE the colors of all of them. Seven hatched and every day I tell my husband that I have _____ hens and _____ roos. I'm a rookie. My numbers change every day.

One day one of the chicks got into a confrontation with another chick over a strawberry or something. When it squawked at the other one it's neck feathers stood out straight just like my EE rooster. That was not this chick... it was one of the others. I am pretty sure that one is a roo.

I LOVE learning about my chickens. I love the feedback I get from BYC! Thank you!

That kind of behavior is something that both genders do as chicks. It doesn't mean it's a roo. It could very well be a more dominant natured pullet.

Also look at the black coming in the breast . That much black added to the comb and red in the shoulder area says cockerel to me .

I'd like to post more photos of the others that hatched 5/22. I'll give you my rookie guess. So far I haven't even been close to the right gender.
My guess for this one is pullet.

I'm going to guess hen on this one, but then again it does have stout legs and a brighter beak.
What do you think? It's 7.5 weeks old. I like the little spots on it-- it gives it character.
