Easter Egger club!

Does shortening days affect Easter Egger pullets laying rate more than breeds like australorps and barred rocks? My Easter Egger hasn't layed an egg in 4 days, otherwise acting completely normal. Is it probably just lack of light or should I be worried something else it's going on? She is 31 weeks old, she starting laying at 21 weeks along with her other flock mates. She was laying almost everyday, but started slowing down quickly as the days got shorter. The thing is, the other breeds ( all born same day) don't seem to be affected yet.

I am new to Easter effects and have three ....
They seem very clicky .. Lol
They seem to protect the other chicks....

Easter Eggers can be some of the friendliest chickens in your yard also if you ever decide to get into hatching the eggs you are into a stroke of luck as these are defiantly the easiest ever to hatch but on the other hand for predators these are also the easiest for them to catch ........

But all around a great chicken to have in the yard .......

It could be that, it could be anything actually. A change in environment, adding a new flock member the list goes on. I personally have never had a new flock member make my girls stop laying but know some say it will. Is she molting? That will stop her.

I sit out in both coops, EE and Cochin. Fester my EE roo gets close then runs since Mom will pick him up. Some EE hens get on my lap then get startled and then you know what happens. The Cochins are shy still at 7 months and hide in a corner still, Stumpy hides his head under my splash pullet, what a brave one he is.

Thanks chickrookie, I don't see any feathers in the coop or run so I don't think she is molting. No new flock members. My wyandotte does occasionally bully her, I wonder if it could be that. Although one of my aussies usually defends her... hmmm

It could be but its hard telling, if you have checked her for parasites, and its not an egg binding issue then I would say its just her.

I cant believe the amount of people having problems getting eggs out of their EE. And the amount of times some say they go into molt.
What I'm about to say applies to all my flock in general not just the EE's and AM's,
I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but sometimes I do wonder.
Everyone always says feed is everything, and I believe that to be true. So I wonder if that applies to molting and production as well, I guess it would. As I have had chickens of my own a few years now and I don't seem to have the problems allot of you do. ( not saying anything bad just pointing out what I have noticed is all ) Anyway DH works for a feed Co. here in town so that is where we get our feed from but we have Black oil seed and white millet put in our scratch. I know the Black oil makes their feathers shine more and it's a great source of some vitamin I cant remember, but I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Does anyone else feed those seeds?
I know that sounds like I'm saying My chickens are better the anyone else's, I don't and I'm NOT. But in all the years I have had chickens of my own I don't ever recall having these problems to the degree some of you have, so I'm jut thinking out loud.

I feed an organic layer feed. I haven't heard of adding millet, but I do feed sunflower seeds. Now that the fresh sunflower heads I took from the garden are gone, I have been giving shelled sunflower seeds (unsalted) because I wasn't sure if the ones sold for wild birds would be ok or not. I was planning on seeing if the feed store had any next time I'm up there. I only have 5 chickens, and they are all still pretty young, born in March but it is encouraging for a newbie like me to hear a high quality diet seems to be having a positive impact on your girls.

I suppose my next step should be taking a stool sample in to make sure its not parasites. She's acting normal, jumping, running, perching, and not showing any interest in the egg boxes so pretty sure its not egg binding.
