Easter Egger club!

This is only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the brooder. They weren't going to the "dark side" (other side of fhe waterer) so they must have been in the just-right zone. :D
Seriously, I do believe they are happy with the heat. They are not huddled together trying to keep warm; they are moving about, eating and drinking. I've even seen a lot of them stretching and soaking in the warmth (until someone has to go and walk on them ). I do know that I will move the light higher as they get older and the water and food farther from the heat as well. This first week or two things stay close until they get better at walking.

Just got some new EEs! a local farm was giving away some and so i got three hens and one roo and there fitting in with the flock just fine!

My littlest chick out of the 8 Poor lil SMokey is a lot smaller than the rest.

Most of the gang hanging out in their brooder

This is one of my favorites out of the 8 I love how her eyes have that black line like Egyptian Kohl.

Hello everyone! I am here to join the EE club with my two sweet girls, one week old today, Sookie and Voncile!

I hope the Wyandotte are sweet, I was under the impression they were. I will be sad if they are ornery, I really wanted to avoid personalities like my Reds but get something different than my Orpingtons though I love them.

I got 50/50 pro/con feedback re Wyans so I never tried them. But then most dual purpose breeds can go either way personality-wise. Our Marans were too heavy and mean to the docile breeds. I had a lovely White Leghorn that was a sweet alpha flock leader around my Silkies for 3 yrs and then went bonkers on all her flockmates -- you just never know. But then we got pure Blue Wheaten Ameraucana (my avatar) and a couple docile Breda added w/ the Silkies and they were kind flockmates. So docile, we're getting more Breda who also turned out to be great layers to our surprise. Bredas are quirky birds with no comb, vulture hocks, and feathered legs/feet, but they are so outgoing curious and gentle around docile breeds that they're prolific laying was just an added bonus! I hope your Wyans turn out ok. I almost got the Blue Laced Red bantams (or is it Red Laced Blue?) before someone gifted us a couple cute little Silkies.
