Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I have some Easter eggers that look alot like some of the Roos on here. If so, I am gonna be upset. I went to Cackle Hatchery and hand picked them and was assured that they were pullets. I don't want roosters... They are only about five weeks old so maybe to early to tell?

I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!!! you actually went to cacklehatchery??!?

I ordered all my birds from there, all bantam straight runs. I got lucky with my 5 buff brahmas, they are all females. However, all the EE's I ordered look like males from the pictures here, but after reading more about the combs, I will have to recheck. Check their combs first. :)
Thanks
Amy

Does anybody else notice what seems to be an unusally high number of roosters born to Easter Eggers?

It seems so on this thread. I, however, got lucky. Of the 8 EEs I hatched in May, 5 are girls. Can't wait to see the colors of their eggs. Hopefully in another 5 weeks, I'll find out.

Same goes for Silkies it seems. Never enough hens!!

Love the flower names. She was an adorable chick. My EE was named Gilda Radner but I changed it to Stalin when she was 10 weeks old. Stalin is extremely dominant and has been running around making raptor screeches and growling. I read that means she's about to start laying. I hope she calms down soon because when I sit out with the chickens it is not very relaxing to hear! Please post a picture of Lotus' first egg and I will of Stalin's. :)
Lotus laid her first egg today! Green!

On the right is a Red Sex Link egg!

I'm pretty disappointed we didn't get blue but this green is pretty and I'm glad it's not plain brown or pink (since pink is pretty much a light brown). :)
So now we have like, a whole carton of dark, light, and medium brown eggs and one green egg, haha!

This looks like a Golden Buff, Golden Comet, Golden Sex Link, Cinnamon Queen or Red Star- All pretty much the same breed. I have a female one of these and she has a more hen like posture and less of a comb and her color is more uniform.

Was he a light yellow as a chick? That would mean a male.

or more an orange brown chick? That would mean female.

Could be wrong, but that's what it looks like.

The color only aligns with sex in the first generation. Breed red sexlink to red sexlink and you'll get a bunch of red and white chicks of both genders. And that's what it looks like -- a 2nd generation "sexlink" cockerel.

Here's a picture of Stalin's first egg from yesterday. She's calmed down a little so maybe I can change her name back to Gilda!

Yay yay! So pretty :) I can't tell, is it blue or green? O:
Looks blue-ish to me, but my mom says it looks green, lol! I think it's 'cause it's in the shade. :)
(Also thank you for the congratulations!)

That's kind of funny that we got our eggs a day apart!

I seem to have a high incidence of male to female hatch ratio. June hatch: 6 chicks, 2 female, 4 males. July hatch: 6 chicks: 3 females, 2 males, 1 suspected male (slow developing comb but it is starting to redden so I'm beginning to think cockerel). I know 6 chicks at a time isn't a big sampling (each batch did have a chick or two that died within the first week so who knows those chicks' genders) but when you are wanting to expand your flock of egg layers, I don't need all these roosters. LOL

Any body able to give me any help on sexing my easter eggers? Not the best pics but wondering if you can tell from coloring. I think the one on the left is a too as Si is black and white, has most prominent comb that is seeming to get redder lately, is slower to feather out (which makes him look kinda crazy--hence the name si) he (and other redder one are both way smaller than the others...they are all about 5 wks old. The other two have similar coloring... esmerelda jumped down just before I snapped the pic. Coloring of feathers is similar, but Oreo has cheatah print neck feathers, fatter neck. And esmerelda has longer skinny neck and green legs.
