hard to say with solid black ones. What are the parents? Was the mother a barred rock?

Mothers were BCM or "Ameracauna". Father is AM. I don't know if the guy has true AMs or not. I bought these from his friend who had them at a swap.

These are 6 1/2 weeks old and I'm hoping at least one of my EEs is a pullet! I'm still learning. Is the feather pattern on #2 a girl? I think #1 is a boy.

1 is a cockerel, sorry, but at least you're right!
2 its hard to tell because I would look at the wings/shoulder area and the chest and comb. I can't really see much of any of those things that sneaky little bird. I like that there are only two birds per post! Makes it easy to follow/reply.

Definitely. I do that also because each pair are the same age as each other and came from different places. I didn't realize how shadowed that second one was. Darn!
I'll get some better pics this weekend when they're running around. They're itching to get back in the coop again and I'm going to test them with the big girls some once we dispatch Mr Attitude (extra cockerel) that is so mean to them.

Last time i posted, i posted 6 chicks. One was thought to be male, but at 14 weeks, its comb it still fairly flat, 3 rows, and pink. There arent any signs of pointy hackle or saddle feathers. To me the coloring looks even, so im going to double check.

The comb size is no different from the pullets.

Here it is at 14 week:

Ok, been curious about my flock's gender lately. They are 4 & 5 weeks old. Any thoughts appreciated! I'm hoping to get 3-4 hens out of these 6 chicks. All are from an EE roo, some red/buff breeds mixed in with the hens. All from the same flock, two hatchings (5/30 and 6/6).


^^^ This one does have 3 rows of combs, but the center is definitely larger than the sides, and it's very light still. 4 weeks old.



^^^ These two are older, 5/30 (5 weeks). Largest of the flock and smallest of the flock. Larger one does have 3 rows, but again, lighter and center row is much larger than the outer two. She is VERY friendly and loves snuggling and hand fed treats.



^^^ This one is very silvery. Single comb so far it seems, light colored. Are the fail feathers a sign of a roo?



^^^ 4 weeks old, dominant personality, very "brave", 3 rows of combs (somewhat more even and darker than the other chicks). The general consensus so far on this one is that it's a cockerel.


^^^ 4 weeks old, totally white (was yellow at hatching). Almost NO comb, etc.

That's a pullet. 

I think so too! That's hen tail feathers.

Definitely a pullet. Rounded saddle feathers are very prominent, if anyone ever had any doubts.
