Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

What is the sex of 5 week old Elsa?
Her brother is totally boyish.
I've compared her comb to the combs of pics of my other chick when they were the same age. I had some RIR roos and her comb definitely smaller and looks a lot like my BSL's comb. I REALLY hope she's a girl! What do you think?
This is her brother.

And this is Elsa!

Eek! Tough because he/she doesn't have the typical EE feathering or pea comb..but the stance and, if those are waddles forming, that might have me worried a bit.
I think he/she still needs a bit more time!

BTW She's always had a big comb......ever since she hatched. And she doesn't usually stand like that...she was just going crazy calling for her brother.
They hate being separated! Ever since they were small chicks, if they got scared her brother would stand up really straight and she would crouch down.

I am going to guess pullet.

hello friends.
so, a few weeks ago everyone figured that i had two female easter eggers and one male. the male crowed to confirm, but i'm uncertain about one of the three.

is this picture clear enough to see? the grey bird (blue) with salmon on its wings, just right of centre. if you look to the left of that one, there's a black orpington, but next over at the back is the female easter egger, robin - she has a tiny pale single comb. to her left, second bird from the left, is oliver, who has rust red on his wings, a red three pea comb, pale legs, bars, and crowed. but in body, blue, the grey bird, matches oliver entirely. long tail feathers, 3-pea comb, a tendency to fight..except blue has the salmon wings and dark legs.

any thoughts on blue's sex? i'll try to corner it for another picture...

at about 8 weeks...

at about 6 weeks.

perhaps this one might help?
left side, front is oliver. behind him, under the ferns, is blue, the bird in question.

Posting here, too.
So, at 12 weeks, shouldn't "his" comb be getting larger/darker now? It isn't even as red as in the pics. No crowing yet, either. Is he just a slow bloomer, or could I hold out hope for another pullet?

The red feathers on the shoulders, and the patchiness of the colors, make me think cockerel. Comb comfirms.

Before we gave away our favorite EE rooster, we incubated some of his fertile eggs made by our favorite hen (she's barnyard mix of several breeds including Welsummer & Orpington). The 3 chicks below are the results. I believe they are all male. Please let me know if you disagree.
Age: 3 1/2 weeks Unless any hope of a female, my 3 favs will be leaving tomorrow with the rest of the hatch.

Chick A (day old wing sexing said female, but the 3 row pink comb looks male to me. Pinkened last week) Pretty sure a male.

Chick B (day old wing sexing said female, pattern is even, but the 3 row comb is starting to pink.) Strong leaning toward male.

Chick C: Could not clearly guess by wing sexing, but has always had a wider comb than the others. Looks like a "?" narrow in front with ball toward back. Not a pea comb. Almost a backward rose comb. Has no color in comb - even in the best sunlight. I see feather splotches, so I'm guessing male. The comb is throwing me off & the red could be brown. Just got pecked in the comb this afternoon, so now it of course looks pink. All 3 have thick legs like their mom. Did anyone have a feather pattern like this end up as a female?

To have pink combs at 3½ weeks makes me agree that the first two chicks are probably cockerels. Reserving judgement on the last one though. Kind of an odd comb on that one, but still mostly pale and has a low profile. I'd wait a week or 2 more before calling that one.
