I have been looking over the Standard breeds (non-bantams) they sell on my pet chicken to see if she is a unintentional mixed breed or there was a missed-placed chick in the order. ;) She is a very interesting chicken! :) :D As for me answering questions... It is really fun. :D I am not an expert though... not by a long shot... :p and this is part of how I learn. Also, the fact that I get to share what I know with people who like talking about chickens is awesome. :wee:ya:yesss::woot

I'm just remembering when she was a chick she didn't have the tuffs or beard like the bantie.. WOW, Easter Egger isn't an Easter Egger? :th I can try getting some more pics.. My mind is just blown though.. Whenever I search up 4 month old EE chicks.. They always look different. No wonder! What is she going to grow up to look like?? Now I have too many questions. I'll get pics up ASAP, I'm dying to know what she is! Also, even if you aren't really experienced with chickens, you're way better than me! :bow

Awww, thanks... I have only had chickens for 5yrs though. :p

I will try to answer as best as I can. ;)
On top of that, I love seeing and researching new/different varieties & breeds of chickens. :D

Did some research on your gal and I found out some interesting things! I hope this is useful info... :D

Since an Easter Egger is a combo designed to lay green eggs (Basically green egg layer + something almost random), they vary in exact appearance. However, they usually have some common characteristics: a beard (fluff on the throat), muffs (fluff behind ears), slate legs (the color of legs your girl has) and a pea comb.

I found a picture of an EE that looks like your pullet (it is the only one I could find like it) that is an ameraucana + ? (which equals an EE).

So... your hen is likely still in the EE category. :) However, it is probably a green/blue egg layer (like an Ameraucana) mixed with something else that is different... Something black and/or gold with a pointed comb, I would guess... like... a double laced black + gold Barnevelder maybe? :) But that is just a totally wild/random guess... :p They just looks very similar... It could be practically anything though... :)

However, here is a pic of of a Barnevelder (dark brown egg layer) from mypetchicken.com:

So, basically, mixed chickens with the blue/green egg gene are EEs. The fact that they could be mixed with nearly anything makes unique ones (like yours) possible. :ya However, a combo like yours is not to common because most EEs more closely resemble Ameraucanas in feather coloration and facial features.

Thank you! This cleared up a lot of confusion for me. So, there's like no way of telling what mix she is? I might contact MPC and see what they have to say. Now I'm curious to see a normal EE. I don't think I look at her in the same way, now that she's a mix, she just seems different. I still love her the same. Thanks for helping me again. :)
