Easter Egger?

Broody hens are the best 🥰🥰 I absolutely love watching mama hen and the chicks. Etsy, ebay and somewhat local (craigslist) are where I've found for my three hatches. Go for it!
Ah, y'all are really starting to sway my decision! Now if I could just get my partner to agree to add more next spring! Shouldn't be too hard seeing as how they will be outside with momma and not in our office as they were before haha. He is a sucker for new babies like I am. I really lucked out with him.

Any idea how often Sapphire Gems go broody? Or EE?

I suppose I could get sex links if I truly want to watch the beauty of mother and babies. That way I could know from day one what to do. I wish so much I could handle a rooster. But it just seems like unnecessary stress to have. I plan on starting my garden next year and the following year bringing sheep onto my land to raise and possibly goats.

Oh I'll have to check it out. Is there a link? I recently made a FB page just to join livestock groups haha.
Sorry, added the link to the original post.

I recommend getting quails! Hard to see, but I own coturnix quail (do not need a permit nor license). I own a few colors. Mainly falb fee, but also italian, pansy, and pharoah.

EEs do go broody, but not as often. Hopefully you get lucky! Spring/summer is typically when broodiness kicks in (its caused by hormones). But some hens go broody year round 🤪

I had a GLW go broody. I also have 10 EEs. None have gone broody yet, but I did have one try to. I would guess older hens go broody more than younger ones though.

My Australorps and Orpington are the broody ones. EEs are not known for it but I'm sure it's dependant on each hen. I have no idea about the Sapphire Gems.
Ah, see in the beginning, I didn't plan on wanting my hens to go broody. So I got an EE and two Black Stars. I have two Sapphire Gems but I think I read they are a newer "breed" and can't find much on them going broody. But I do have one beautiful Silver-Laced Wyandotte. Poor baby is sick right now and isolated from sisters. But I am positive she will pull through and be my broody mama soon enough. Although, it would seem she is one the lower end of the pecking order.

I see. Yes, I am hoping my SLW goes broody! My hens are pullets right now. I haven't even gotten eggs yet. But I can't help to plan for the future. Chicks are so exciting! How many chickens do you have total?

What happened to her? Flystrike?
