Easter Eggers ~ Americana ~What Factors =What Colored Eggs~ Post Yours

Yes, you are exactly right! The one that lays the turquoise egg has slate colored legs and a peacomb. Those are two Ameraucana traits. My theory is, that the more "Ameraucana" traits you see, the greater your chances are at some sort of blue egg.

I do have 3 new EEs that are just about to lay. They all have peacombs, and very green legs. One of the EEs is white, the other two are a bright reddish buff. I am betting that I get green eggs from them. BUT, I am hoping for PINK!!!

I will post pics of the girls and their eggs as soon as they start laying. I just love the mystery-factor of EEs!!! I find the last few weeks leading up to lay are the most exciting!

I wonder if anyone out there has a pic of their EE that lays pink eggs? I would love to see!

oh darn!! i really wanted blue eggs from mine!

The scientific process is still ongoing. We do not have a large enough sample size to form any conclusions yet

Thanks Lynn that was great information you have added to the pool.

I got Cleo from McMurray hatchery, sold as an Ameraucana. I was corrected a few months ago by someone here when I first posted her picture and was told she is an "Easter Egger".

Whatever she is, I just love her raptor look, and she lays green eggs. Sorry I don't have a picture of them yet.

I will post a pic of our EE'er tomorrow. She just started laying 2 weeks ago and lays a pastel green egg. She is mostly red with a "beard"? and some black. She is the most flighty and avoids contact like the plague. We didn't get her til she was 12 weeks old. She used to crash into the fence trying to get out of our way when we entered the run but now just scutters out of the way now. She is starting to tame up but it is slow going. All 3 of our Leghorns are ever tamer than her.

Barg, I am thrilled to get to add to your post! Eleanor laid her first egg today!

This is Eleanor Roosevelt when she was a baby:

I don't know if you can see her cheek tufts but she definitely had them.

Here she is now:

She still has really prominent cheek tufts, but she is the most shy of the camera. I took this one with my phone, thinking maybe that wouldn't scare her as much, but she still was really hard to catch.

And here is her very first egg:

After supper I'll run out and see if I can get a picture of her that shows her leg color. I know her leg's are dark, I think they're like a really dark gray (slate, I guess?)
