Easter Eggers

I have a genetics question.my roo is a blue cochin and one of the eggs my broody hatched this year was from my white and brown easter egger. The baby is 5 weeks old and grey barred. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing happening?

New to EE, I have 4, 8 weeks old and I know based on comb I have a male with black and white ...but can anyone tell me what this one may be ? Big and colorful thought by neck feathers it may be a male but comb is not as dark as bnw ? Tail feathers have some greenish tint to them.

Usually it fairly easy to buy the eggs. Sometimes though they can be expensive. Depends on where & who you buy from. There are some usually listed here in BYC that aren't too expensive but the shipping charges get you., and shipping them sometimes they won't hatch.
I got some off here and had them shipped paid for twelve got fourteen and hatched seven of them. All on all I was happy with the hatch rate if them. Another batch I bought paid for 12 got 17 but only two hatched and only got 1 to be grown. So shipped eggs are risky.

Look on you local state thread. Contact those there and see if they sell hatching eggs. Check your local Craigslist to see if anyone has chicks or eggs for sale. Another option is to advertise in the free want ads in the local paper or Craigslist for hatching eggs or if you prefer chicks.

The red and brown one looks like a she. Looks like she might get big too.

What's the difference between Easter eggers, Ameracauna, and Auracanas? (I obviously didn't spell those right, and I obviously don't know the difference)

Easter eggers are a cross between a blue egg layer and a brown egg layer. They don't breed true.
Ameraucana is a blue egg layer and should breed true. If you see it spelled Americauna (with an i) then it is an EE.
Auraucana is the rumpless blue egg layer and should breed true.

Hope this helps.
