Eastern Iowa Poultry Association Annual Show, November 29-30

I have a young red cockerel, I would say about six or seven months old.

His color isn't the darkest red, but he has great type. He would be great for a breeding program.

If you would like I could bring him so you could have a look.

I think something is wrong at my house, seems I hatch out all cocks.

that would be great, please bring him. i have a red pair from Annamay Carlson that i'm bringing to show, but i want to work on red cochins and i'll need another nice cockerel.

what color cochins you showing?

these are bantams right?

I will be showing,

White and black cochin bantams, Black and white frizzles cochin bantams,

Black Ameraucana large fowl

Rose comb Rhode Island reds Large fowl

And my Royal Palm turkey.

Not expecting to do that well,, as most of my cochins have decided they are done showing for the year and are in a molt

Just 5 more days till the big show! On Thursday, let's all remember to give thanks that we live in a country where we can participate in showing poultry. In many countries, people would kill each other in order to eat the birds that we keep "just for show", or for pets.

We can also drive to this show and not have to worry about roving bands of outlaws, pirates, or police enforcers who would demand tribute or identification papers.

We truly have much to be thankful for, even in these times of financial uncertainty. May God continue to bless America!

See you all at the show..................jhm47

Well I gave Leroy his bath today:D He was such a good boy even for bow drying, actually he was better than the dogs:lol: If someone would have told me I would be bathing and blow drying a chicken a couple years ago I would have laughed at them. Tomorrow I tackle the chantecler he needs a name.

I would have loved to show my Chantecler from you, but I decided not to. I didn't have time to get the testing done and it's just something so new to me that I can't quite get my head around showing. I might try next year. He is definitely my most handsome rooster and I would have enjoyed showing him but I will live vicariously through yours! I can't wait to see yours. I named mine "Chanteur" which is French for "singer".

Edited to say that he has the *coolest* crow of all my roos. It's a long trilled "rrrrrrrrr" sound after the initial "cock-a-" part. He is unlike any other crow I ever heard. It really is like singing. Kind of like a loud purr.

i want a barred frizzle!! you wouldn't have any pullets by chance? if not, i'll take a cockerel.

i'll be washing my red cochin pair tomorrow. then the silkies on thanksgiving and then the waterfowl get a dip in the bathtub before going in their travel kennels.

busy, busy, busy!!! showtimes almost here!!!

I do believe I have a couple of pullets because their combs don't look as red and developed as some of the others. I will bring them and you can take a look and choose your favorite!
