Have you ever seen Orpington poop?? I sift my shavings with my sifting fork I use for the horse stalls. But on the good side....easier to scoop the poop!

nope...but if I get any more cochins, i have to figure in the price of a dog sized pooper scooper. (seems that way after it clumps together)

Speaking of chicken behavior. I built mine a nice new fresh 5-hole box. Guess what happened?? I found 7 eggs in ONE box and the rest empty. I think they plan that stuff just to have a good laugh at me the next day.

I would have warned you if I knew there was anything other than huge poo. I only have hefty girls, remember? But, hey, that explains why I heard other people talking about changing litter once a twice a year but my pens are gross after eight weeks. I use Sweet PDZ and DE to keep everything dry and that helps, but I still have to watch my step.

Poop poooooop everywhere!

Alright, now that we have dealt with our local scammer.....I have a trio of Mille fleur d'uccles from Lori that need a new home. They are young, too young to tell whether pet, breeder or show quality...however they are out of show quality birds.

They are young little boogers. I have them here in my laundry room since I didn't realize I was going to have them more than a day

Cute as can be.....anyone considering starting showing or just wanting some cute little friendly bantams, these would be a nice start. Sure looks like a boy and 2 girls

I can get closer to 12 weeks if I keep the poop board in place. I wish I could do a couple times a year....but no way with my poopers.

how much pdz are you using on how much space???

Looks like crazy people in East TN are back to their old tricks on craigslist. A shame. Anyone looking to rehome locally for free or cheap, may want to PM me for a warning about a couple people trolling for cheap animals, lying about their circumstances, etc etc etc.

It's all very scientific and involves scales, a graphing calculator, and measuring cups... just kidding!

I am not a measuring type person. I just use a bowl and sprinkle it around. It's heavy under the roosts and waterers and light everywhere else. I'd say I use about one and a half cups per pen, which are 8x12 or 10x12. The directions say to add more between bedding changes but I don't think of it until it gets so horrible I have to shovel everything out and start from scratch.

Right now I have young birds doing their getting-grownup-feathers molts and the big birds doing their annual molts so you can barely see the shavings for feathers.

Did you give your cochins a big hug and kiss today, for being lucky enough to end up with you rather than her? You should! I am happy to see the little d'uccles in my laundry room instead of in some flipper's cages.

So, think your kid might want some d'uccles? LOL
