Hello, I am in E. Tennessee. I live in Jonesborough. I found this thread as I am looking for the number of incubation days for Amerauca eggs, my friend just hatched some and she thought they hatched earlier than 21 days, anyone know if it is a shorter time? Thanks Judy

welcome to the site.. I dont think there any different.21 days. but they can hatch earlier depending on the temp of ur bator.

mine always hatched at eighteen days, at about 101F. in the LG. cours found adding a short yogurt cup or two in middle worked better for keeping humidity and heat stable, than filling the trays, and had 1oo% hatch rate then (though if you put the cups full in the corners, quail will occassionally get in and drougn). then again im pretty low tech, and wouldnt need to hatch more than eighty regular to large or jumbo at a time..

Yay, hubby got off work early today to enjoy the weather, he started work on the incubator! He's got the drawers permanently in place now.

Gotta figure out the door situation and put the insulation in and figure out how to set up fans, bulb, electric and all that... bairo, I watched the cam a few days back and all I saw was 2 chicks, one freshly hatched and the other one was running circles around it pecking it... I can't wait to start incubation of my BLRW's to see how well they do.

It is soooo much more fun doing it in a home made one. All in that test hatch I did will be coming to the spring Newport show with me to get rid of. Except the OE/Del cross which I am hoping will be a female and lay a green tinted egg.

People stump me, there is a guy in south knox with an add on CL for Red sex-link rooster chicks at $3 per chick, I just checked Welp's website and for 2.68 each you can get pullets and roosters are 1.77 each... that's if you order less than 49... but still! What a rip off!

why would anyone even want to pay for rooster chicks? there so common on cl that if ya look ya can get them for free. heck I got extras I cant get rid of.

Finally!! I have been looking for a nice, good quality blue silkie roo for over 3 months now. I even talked to one woman who would give one to me if I paid shipping ($48). A customer calls me yesterday and says, I have this blue silkie roo that needs a home..you know anyone who would want it? I was ecstatic! He is now here settling in.

I am trying to understand the new "rules" for auctions. I have been hatching out blue & blue splash marans to check fertility. Now am ready to sell hatching eggs but I can not make heads or tails on what we do now. Only thing I did find is that A LOT of people are upset because 2 auctions is the limit. I am really bummed because I have invested a great deal in my breeding stock last year. Can anyone enlighten me? I do not want to sell on Ebay if I can keep from it...and I don't know much about eggbid.

Sometimes things that look good on paper do not necessarily work. I like some of the new things here but...I would have rather their take a way a few un-needed whistles and bells and keep the auction as it was.

Hope everyone is enjoying the great weather..I know my chickens sure are.

I know!! I can't sale roosters for more than $3-5 at the time they start crowing or fully grown! I don't know what possess this guy to sale baby rooster chicks at $3 but it just kills me that someone out there will pay it, when they don't cost that much at a hatchery for PULLETS!!!!!!!!!

why would anyone even want to pay for rooster chicks? there so common on cl that if ya look ya can get them for free. heck I got extras I cant get rid of.

Ok.. now he has barred rock and rir chicks that are 'pullets' at $6 a piece!!!! I sale my LAYING hens between $8-12, it sounds like this guy ordered a bunch of chicks and is now flipping them to make a profit!

Have a FB account? I've seen a lot more groups on there for people with stuff for sale. I'm on many rabbit groups and one chicken group. Try that, Hoobly is over rated, I posted my doe on there and got a total of 9 views before deleting it. I try to avoid CL like the plague when it comes to my rabbits, to many traders and CL police, if it's not being flagged then noone wants it or they want it but only want to give you a quarter of it's worth.

Oh, did anyone know there is a chicken show in April in Knoxville?

From what I've been told, there is a show on April 14 at Chilhowee Park in the poultry building. If anyone is interested in the German New Hampshire breed, there is an ad in
the Poultry Press by Joe Jefferson(the man who originally brought these to the U.S.). Chicks @$4 plus shipping and eggs @$18 a doz. plus shipping. These are great birds in every way. The ones I have came from his stock and compare to the ones you see in the other forums on BYC. Have a great day everyone!
