Anyone else get super suspicious when people ask what all you have available, then agree to take all of them without pictures or anything else said?

Stang..I just found this also. I will be up towards JC this coming week. You want me to stop and check out the stock? The Marans are pricey, but the Wels aren't too bad if they are decent.

Contrastphoto has bought from them before. She might be able to tell you about the quality. I hate that I bought from MPC when there was a source that was a lot less expensive close by. They both post on here on page 335.

I think Bairo has hit his head.

I'm thinking about waiting on the welsummers (Which is what I was already thinking about getting) until the chicken show. That way you all would be there and can help me pick. Since I am still new.

Let me jump in on the Welsummers... I have two... Their eggs aren't that dark. I have Wheaten Marans which are MUCH darker. I would never pay $30 for a hen that is probrably half spent... unless it's a rare breed and, to me, Welsummer isn't rare enough for that justification.

Just my two cents.

Don't make me go back and find the ansewer... do you want to breed them or just have hens or what?

Well, heck! I could have saved some pages of posts here.... I'm thinning out my flock and can emotionally handle selling one of my Welsummers. She is about a year old... they both are... they are sisters. Really pretty, but I don't eat eggs and really don't need a eatting egg flock of 40+ so I have been selling pullets and young hens here and there to people I know are worthy of keeping chickens.

Where is Helenwood? I'm down near Athens, TN

I want one hen just to have the chocolate egg layer. So my son can see all the different color eggs.

Hey Bairo,

I know you were looking for white layers. Have you thought about attempting Trader Joe fertile eggs? You could really put your bator to the test. You would most likely get leghorns, but you wouldn't have too much money tied up in them to see if they're the breed for you. I thought about picking up some the next time I go to my sister's...

I see now that I messed it up both times, dont they make a pill for that? LOL. Well you get the jest of it. I would not mind having a couple of wels.
