If your offer of letting me help is still there, I'm still willing in order to gain some experience in the whole process. I know the scheduling didn't work out last time, but just let me know a time and I'll do my best to make it.

@tnbarnqueen It's possible that is the reason for no charge on the pavilion. I'm pretty sure folks just show up and use them throughout the summer as well.
I will never decline help grawg. That date is an estimate at the time being, it will get more fine tuned as they grow & scheduling comes out my schedule is posted 2 months in advance. i will post when that time comes of it's processing time.

It is raining here this morning and those silly pullets are out there in it.

They think they are ducks.

Oh a question just came to mind.

My brother in law works at Earth Fair here in Johnson City.

On the weekends he works the coffee and juice bar.

I asked him to bring me some coffee grinds for my blueberry bushes.

He brought me a 5 gallon bucket of a mixture of coffee grinds, and a mixture of carrot and apple pulp from where they make the juice.

I put the grinds on the bushes and fed the pulp to the pullets.

There were a few coffee grind mixed in with the pulp.

Do you think those few grinds will "amp" them up or what?

thanks y'all! I blocked off one w a piece of wood but she hopped in the other one

I really want to add an Orpington to our flock. Anybody have one for me?

Bairo-tell me about these injections...again a newbie question

I use Ivermectin "POUR-ON" It goes on the skin like you would a spot on flea treatment for dogs. I do it at 10 pm when they are on the roost and part their feathers at the shoulders to squirt it on with a little 3 cc syringe without the needle. Check my coop page and scroll down to Ivermectin. I have the dosage figured in drops for the new folks, but truth be known I short-cut and use 1/2 cc for full grown chickens. Easier than counting drops. Valbazen is there as well and is administered down the throat. You can get Ivermectin at TSC in a small 250 ml bottle for about 15.00 and it will last a couple years. You can sometimes find valbazen at the Co-Op or can order it via Amazon. My basics I keep on hand at all times are: Ivermectin pour-on, Valbazen, 10% permethrin, penicillin, and Oxine

Some folks dont like putting chickens on a schedule like you would ...say a horse. I understand that and respect their beliefs. It works for me though and I have never had a problem with worms, fleas, ticks, lice, mites, flies or anything else for that matter.
The only problem I have ever had was a Rooster developed wry neck secondary to what I think was equine encephalitis from a mosquito probably. Knock on wood.....

bairo, never thought that-- I just wanted to make sure I had everything as close to ideal as possible, and that you knew the problem was not new. We changed bandages, and gave second shots last night, 1/4 of a cc in a 22gage needle. The wounds on Penelope are so much better, they have shrank to about 1/2 the size they are now less than quarter size on one foot and about a dime on the other and the swelling is almost nonexistence. My question is since penny has received 2 shots now and no wound debriding, her only one is smaller than a pencil easier, the color of the scab is lighter than before the 1st shot and no swelling. I think I should not try and remove the scab? just continue the next 2 shots and wait to see how it looks? I found a large scab on Penelope's keel bone that we have been putting antibiotic cream on, she's the heaviest of all my flock--I think the my roosts are wide enough and smooth--any other Ideas on how to prevent this and are we treating it right? thank goodness I can buy penicillin from TSC--that longer lasting one is just amazing!

Ok, well if everyone could chip in on the fee, then I guess the last part is to choose the best park and date/time to meet. I was thinking a park with a play area for kids, since a lot of our BYCers will have their kids with them, I'm also thinking 3rd or 4th weekend in June, I can't do last weekend of June. July will probably be kind of hot... so it's up to whether people want to extend our wait between meet-ups and go in July instead of June, August is just the hottest month so would prefer to not subject myself to sweat covered clothes.

Quote: Your doing exactly what I would do. I agree to not remove that scab and that it seems to be healing fine. 2 more shots should be more than adequate along with the ointment.
