Hey guys does anyone know where I can find Silver Campine's? I have been searching for months and can't find any. I am looking to focus on some rare breeds and just received some blue laced red wynadotte chicks and am about to recieve some silver gray dorking eggs. But the silver campine is avoiding me. I want to find a good breeder but even the hatcheries I am finding are sold out.

I don't think I have the smartest chickens. In this insane heat I've had six hens go broody. Who would want to sit in a metal box inside of a hot coop in this kind of weather!??!

Mine aren't smart either, ive got 3 broody ducks and 12 broody hens

Im up to my neck in baby chicks at this point and some of them have seriously got to go asap. Anyone know of any local swaps? I cant do first monday because ill be at work so has to be on a saturday. I think I need to move the silkies into their own section, they are making everything go broody.

OK everyone...I know we are all suffering from this heat but I got the scare of my chicken life yesterday. I check everyone 3-4 times day, spraying down the chickens and their runs and refilling water. I went out yesterday and noticed Polish hen sitting in the bottom of their pen which is not off since it is wired and they get a breeze. But I noticed something looked off. One was sitting with her head laying forward. I opened the door and when I touched her she was pretty lifeless. Since I had the hose I started spraying under her wings (where skin is bare) and under the feathers around her croup and chest. Then I rushed her inside and doused her in a sink of water for 20 minutes. Jazz was still pretty out of it so I put her in a towel on the couch under the LR fan. I syringed some electrolytes in her and waited. After about 30 min she opened her eyes and clucked a bit. I just cried. So now she is in an inside cage enjoying the cool air and will probably stay there til this heat wave is over. Oh...when I picked her up to put her in the cage there lay a jelly egg.

Jazz was one of my first Polish and as you can see a very special girl to me. She is eating and drinking. She is still sleeping alot but is moving around and I think will be fine. I just dread weaning her back into the heat.

One thing I noticed too was the other Polish he who had a saddle one. She seemed to be OK but when I felt under the saddle it was REALLY hot...so all saddles are coming off! IT is time for the boys to have some time to them selves anyway. So.....everyone be careful.

My last broody hen has finished. FINALLY I hope they have stopped for a while now.

Everyone stay COOL!!
