The babies from Tennesseeckn are doing great. One of the black ones is getting tail feathers. The other black on is closing in but no tail feathers yet. The blues seem to be developing a little slower but the smallest blue is catching up to the other blue. Only one pasty butt needed cleaning so far (the smallest blue). Bless their hearts they must think I am some kind of Butt Monster: reaching in twice a day, plucking them out one at a time and turning them almost upside down to look at their butts.

I will try to post pics tomorrow.

The 2 white EEs I have still look the same. I looked at the hen I think they came from & she has the same saddle shaped feathers. Its probably wishful thinking on my part but I am holding out hope that at least one is a pullet. I will also try to post new pics of them tomorrow and maybe the hen I think is their mom. She is very skittish so it may not work.

If anyone knows of the animal swap schedule of the TSC near you...please message me with it and I will put it all on a spread sheet and get it posted. I need to write the tech department and see if they will let me do some sticky posts on our forum.
The girl who is coordinating the one in Morristown told me that they know the first few are not going to have a lot of people...it is like anything new,,,word has to get around and interest has to grow.

"Oh...I am also going to have (I hope) hen house sized quilt "signs"like the ones people put on barns....for sale. If anyone wants custom I am going to offer that as well if they order before the show. When I get a couple done will post them."

Working on it....had to take a break for a friend who is going thru radiation for a bit. That and DH has got to finish cutting my squares!

Been a minute since I've been on here!!

Fredrick, he's suck a sexy beastie lol!! I'm still battling the too many roosters issue myself.

Had another coyote come through 30 minutes after letting the flock run a few weeks back. He grabbed a BR hen and Ron, my huge BR roo, went after him. I thought Ron was a goner, they both ran into the tall field next to our house. Ron came sauntering back minus his tail feathers with not a scratch on him. I don't know if Ron beat the poop out of him, just scared him good, or got really lucky. I have to call a trapper, these coyotes are really out of hand now. I haven't got anything new and haven;t been hatching since the last batch of eggs I bought online turned out to be NOT the breed I purchased.

Missed you girlie. This is my 2 cents on the coyote problem. The GOVERNMENT brought them in for rodent and rabbit control. Well.....they are responsible for the problem and they should be the ones to take care of it. I say put a bounty $ with a limit preferably with the hunting season being right before they start breeding. It is a problem everywhere.

I cannot believe my "dependable" broody mama hen would not take this little chick I have! I wonder if chickens have certain times of the year that they just don't go broody.....like a lot of mammals that do not go into season during the winter months. Anyway...it was not doing well at all alone so I went out and got one of my 2.5 mo. old silkie chicks and put with it. She stood back and looked..,then bent down and looked at this little red puffball..then she walked over and chirped. It snuggled under her and they are getting along so well.

Lost my pair of Blue SG SIlkies to the Mink....this is really getting tiring. That makes 17. I am at the point of considering tearing my hen house down just to get rid of it. I hate having to use live bait but it may be the only way. I set mouse traps and it carried them off with the mice in them!!! What concerns me is if I finally do get rid of it...is there going to be another come take it's place. Is there any type of deterrent I can use?

If you need a live rabbit, I have one to donate for the cause... it's going to the freezer soon otherwise anyways!

2012-2013 TN coyote hunting open year round, no limit, shoot em through the ear, BAM down.

I personally can't do it but husband doesn't hesitate. Yes, they are out of control and have become a nuisance. Daughter had one on her wrap around porch just a few nights ago, freaked her out when she looked out the window and saw it staring back at her through the window. Granted we all live in a rural area, but I know of friends in town (Chattanooga) that see them running around.
