Chicken question: Why are some of my chickens' waddle and comb bleached out all of the sudden? They were red, but now they are pinkish. Does worming have anything to do with it?

And those chicken houses are amazing. Is there a website you can go on to look at them? They look cute enough to live in - awwwwggghhh!

Does anyone here know what coloration/pattern this would be called?? He is one of my prettiest DU and am considering keeping him.

The feathers on his feet and legs are over 4 inches long. He is one of the nicest ones I have had this year. The coloration around his neck is gold.

I'm not a color expert but would guess columbian.

I considered doing Riley's hair but I can't bring myself to do the ear plucking or his anal glands. I will gladly pay someone to do those jobs! Sorry about your chickens. I know they are farm animals but once I give them names they become pets.

Don't do it! I tried to trim my Lhasa-poo and cut his hock to the bone with scissors. After paying $300 in emergency vet bills and putting up with the cone of shame for a month, the grooming costs seemed so much more reasonable.

yea.. the stress of worming can do that sometimes. They are also coming up on molting season...which can do the same thing. Between my fall worming and molting, I give up on eggs almost all winter. I figure zero, that way when I get a few i'm happy

Give them some yogurt for a few days..usually helps get their bellies back in order, when they feel better their red will return.

We are gone with mom tomorrow till about 1pm then I have to leave at 2:30 for a vol. thing I do every year for a friend and their church. I did not know what time the sale was over but hoping you can swing by for that rooster and you can bring some of that tack by as well if you want and we can talk about it.
I was not ignoring you, just tight with money especially if I did not know what was going to happen up there with the gelding. I'll get the cockeral caged up real early before he comes off the roost. Even if you dont bring yours it is no big deal....you can still have this one.

6:30am update 38 chickens loaded and ready to go to the sale today @ TSC Morristown.

Wish I lived a little closer, would love to come up and look around. The drive for me is 2 hours each way so if I were to come then I would want to ride my motorcycle and then I couldn't take anything home with me. I would scare a poor chicken to death LOL.

Anyone in the Chattanooga/Cleveland or so area have any current "LAYING HENS" for sale?

I am looking for a 2-4 maybe. I understand with the weather changes lately & possibly molting that they may be on a break but would like a couple that are relatively still young & tend to have to lay during the winter months.

Which brings up a question. What breeds tend to lay during the winter? At least, our winters in this area, considering they are usually pretty mild for the most part.
Thanks
