She is where I am getting the first MF hen from (hopefully) if I can find a buddy for her in the right color. I got my first 2 silkies from her on Wed. I have a partridge and a blue ShowGirl in the broder and 2 very sweet lavender d'uccles from her. Thank you though. I appreciate the reply.
Actually a MF with a self blue tail...for instance like my blue wheaten ameracuana...are Porcelain. I just PMed you. I am waiting to get some from a breeder in AR soon. Imagine the 2 chicks you got from me but with self blue tail and a few other places. I will keep you posted what I get. ;-)

@Bario...I have eggs pipping too!

If someone does not PM me and let me know what happen to us I am going to pull my hair out!

Okay guys dumb Fall raising chicks question: My babies are almost 7 weeks old (I think). They have been in the big coop all week & I have not had the heat light on any. They are all sleeping in one nest box. I am concerned about next week when the temps drop. Will they need the light at night? They have quite a few feathers but are not completely feathered out yet. I have made it this far with them & do not want to screw it up. This Fall chick thing is new to me. Thanks

BTW the black one I am kinda undecided on as to sex is my buddy. If i go out to the pen it will come up to me. It will calmly perch on my lap while I pet it or look through the feathers to see how they are coming in. So if it turns out to be a roo he is going to stay unless he gets really mean. LOL

I think people who lurk on here are going to be more confused than we are.

To be completely honest, at their age and how warm it's been, you probably shouldn't have had a light on.. but that is just my opinion. I, in warmer weather, have been known to completely turn out lights until they are starting to huddle for warmth (that can be as early as 1-2 weeks depending on weather and it has been VERY warm during the day.

I have not had any lights on this week (I think since Sat or Sunday). I knew they were fine since it was so warm but next week its suppose to drop fairly low and didn't know if they would need heat then? I think they are probably heating up in the nest box at night.

Bless their poor dumb hearts. They know how to boil out in the mornings when I open the door but at night they still haven't figured out how to get back in.

So I end up putting them in the coop.

I'd go out with a flashlight and just check on them, but at almost 8 weeks, I'd have it on a timer for the COLDEST hours... but only red heat bulb, otherwise they'll continue to peck and stuff instead of sleep... I still wouldn't put a light out at all, the ones I have are about same age and have had no light since 5 weeks I think... Once they outgrow the brooder it's time for some tough love... but they feathered out VERY FAST that way.

Thanks. I have one of the red heat bulbs on a dimmer switch so I can turn it way down. I will check them & see how they are doing as the temps drop after tomorrow. I am such a worry wort dh says I coddle the animals too much.
