Do you see feathers anywhere? Do you think something is grabbing them? I can't imagine them not returning on their own to their food source.

I didn't find anything. It was just like last time except this time the older cockerel was not out with them. We have woods on 2 sides and I am assuming whatever took her got her in the woods. I walked around but did not find anything. I know we have a fox that lives not too far from us so maybe she got the pullet. We have seen the fox walk across our retaining wall & through the backyard but never have been able to get a shot at her.

I got 2 more eggs today and 2 are sitting in boxes making attempts. My youngest Serama hen was privacy stricken and came out of the coop while I was checking water and laid it right beside me on the ground. I was so proud of her. And it is a nicely shaped egg. Not bad for her first. I don't know if putting the younger chicks out there has stirred them to lay or if they are just hitting the right age to get going. Either way, I am happy to get eggs.
Congrats, I told you they were just about ready.

Okay here's the 3 that are left. They are 12 weeks old now. The 2 in the upper right are my older chicks.

Front: black pullet?, behind: 2 blue cockerels.

Here's 2 more pics of the black: Pullet?? what do you think?

And here's the older pair

It is easy to tell now with their combs and waddles. Pretty. Can't tell on top photo on the one in back - but I see two pullets and one cockrel. Then pullet, next one pullet and the bottom is pullet and cockrel.

itsthelaw- the bottom pic is the ones in the first pic: located in the upper right with their backs to the camera. They are a few weeks older than the ones from Daphne and yes its definitely a pullet and cockerel (although he hasn't crowed yet). I am still not positive on the 3 from Daphne except the one cockerel (he's the one closest to the green fence post in the first pic). Thanks

ETA: sorry my pics are confusing. They have been updated in their folder on my profile page.

Are the martians needing people for chicken feed and if so how come I was not invited?

I wake up and leave for work in the dark. I get home, it's dark. I'm just work hibernating for the next few months, once I see daylight again maybe I'll have something to write about

We had a silkie that was missing for 3 days. We had given up on finding her and just figured she was easy prey but, day 4 she was at her coop ready to go up that night. Apparently she went and had a wild fling somewhere.

So excited! One of my Coronation hens from Greenfire laid an egg!
