I see I'll have to talk to your stepdaughter. That's how I ended up with the three. My ten-year-old lured pregnant Mama home with her.

You are lucky....I had 14 strays..part of them wild in one summer, two where pregnant. I had all of them spayed/neutered...some stayed..some left but at least they are not procreating.

I use to work with an animal rescue and I don't know if people where dropping them off on purpose or if I had a welcome sign for cats I could not see.

Now only have 1 or 2 a year.

Ladyride...I would be careful about your little Gizzy....my brother had a 6 month old Min Pin that a hawk took..if they can carry it..they will take it.

Seems that way >people dump them where they think someone will care for them< I moved here a year ago, i took in and found homes for 12 dogs. I kept one, who is half mine and half my dads and he literally sleeps at both places. He's too skiddish to even attempt to put a collar on, although hes playing more now and doesnt run from everyone. I had a friend come and basically drop a Boston in my lap then another one "showed up" a day later. Even thought i know where he was from, no one ever called or anything. Both boys have health issues. The one went to live in Maryland while my hubby works there. When he comes home, the pup will stay with my inlaws. Hes got demodex mange so badly but he is getting so much better. The other one has a horrible slip disk in his back and i have reason to believe he was used as a bait dog at some point. He took up instant residence here so he stays. I was just asked to help organize and promote a Pit Bull rescue, which is a super wonderful idea, just having a hard time in this area finding people who don't think this breed should just all be killed off. Proves to be challanging to say the least, but we're moving forward. Thats one reason i havent been around on this board much. I had surgery at the end of August that I'm still healing from. My girlie Boston got gravely ill 2 weeks ago and required emergancy surgery, the baby bunnies and mama have yet to go to their new home where the daddy is. The kids are in school and i joined the PTA as well as the headstart parent board. Right now, i'm just tired, the birds are missing my daily sit downs with them and i'm missing them too. I was out for a while today with them and they are sulking and snubbing me. Tomorrow i go out to bribe their effections back with goodies!! LOL money can't buy love, but with chickens, treats sure can!

I know that is why I was throwing firecrackers & yelling like a crazy woman the neighbors must have thought I was crazy. When he came in the house I put the doggie door in for awhile. A lady who works rescue with me lost a chihuahua she was fostering. That was another reason why I got gsd to help protect my fru-fru babies as well.

I hope you got said cat fixed now!! My chickens dont chase back..its odd but they are really good at running for their lives! My bostons team up with my moms jack russel so its just easier to keep them in the fence. I might be able to be talked into a kitten tho, you'll have to do some heavy convincing

How's this for convincing?

They're both girls. The one on the left is a lot darker orange now and the one on the right has long hair. They're up to date on their shots and their mom tested negative for leukemia.

They're all weaned and ready to go.

Mice help do Not read if you do not any more chickens.

For those having mice problems there is a breed of chicken very well known for hunting and eating mice. I would suggest those that are having a problem put an order in for some together. There are a few breeders here on BYC and one or two hatcheries that carry them. Chicken breed is called Buckeye, it is large breed looks as red as a true RIR but not with same laying abilty. Also very active for size and loves to hunt and eat mice and rats.

Well it has been a really busy day proccessed 7 roosters

Now this fact I am really proud of didn't knick a bowel or rupture a gallbladder not bad for first timers. I had watched the videos , looked at several different people's pics of the process made it easier than I thought. But I had never raised anything that I knew would end up in my stewpot I am really looking forward to tasting these I have eaten homegrown before just not mine.

Would she be able to survive your neighbor's dogs, though? I would love her to go to someone like you.
