What a great GSD!!! Love it!!! I know what you mean about worrying about neighbors.... I do everyday. I live next to a crazy, violent, mood swinging, dog hoarder. She mows in the nude (minus the construction boots), she live traps strays and keeps them, she talks to herself, she has multiple personalities, she screams; shoots; and throws things.... trust me, you should be ok.

I got her to calm down a bit by shooting over her dogs heads when they were on my property. I feel like it isn't the dog's fault, so I have trouble shooting them. I did this twice and the third time she was out. I wasn't aiming anywhere near the dog but their hyper sensitive ears don't like the whizzing bullet and they took off running home. I heard her "oh baby, baby.... are you ok? Did she hit you?" and that was the last dog to stray over the line.

I won't go into the whole story, but just know... there won't be any legal reprocussions to you. The dog was on your property and your dog was contained by you... it busted out, but you had it in the house. I have talked to the cops many times over these things because of my neighbor. You'll be alright.

The best 1-day fence.... green "poultry netting" at Lowes and pvc or fence posts.... zip tie it all together and you made a run that blends in quick so it looks decent and goes up in seconds. So long as you have no sags, the birds won't get past it.

I know the birds were on your property, but for awhile you have to make sure they never lay a feather on this other neighbor's property. There is no telling what they will do.

And for God's sake... call the cops NOW and tell them what happened. The responding officer can see evidence and if the neighbor comes for $$ for her dog... the cop can (and will) testify to what happened from what he say (ie feathers all on your property)

If you have the liquid assests (lol) I would even suggest truley putting cameras up. That way if something does happen, at least you have something to take to court.

If you lived closer I would volunteer to check on the birds... especially since I know a couple of them. LOL!

The good news is that I seriously doubt the dog will be back. If it survives, that is. I'm really sorry that happened, especially right before a holiday.

In the spirit of the season: I am grateful for my neighbors for keeping their dogs up AND for mowing their lawns with clothes on.

Ok I don't know which is worse the multiple personalities, mowing in the nude, or willy-nillly firing weapons.

Makes me grateful for my neighbors, who quietly watch out keep their critters for the most part where they should live. Most importantly mow with their clothes on.

Your kind of problem has been what I have dealt with for over 15 years now. Anytime you can get pics of their dog on your property...especially chasing your stock.. try and get one. You have every right to shoot and your dog has every right to protect. TN state law..hands down. Neighborly retribution? Yes..that is where things get out of sorts. I have had the same problem with mine. Humane society would come and confiscate their dogs and 2 days later they have 3 or 4 more to replace them. They put anti-freeze out one night for my cat. They are really sneaky but after this long and a few choice conversations..things have not been as bad. We don't like confrontations but sometimes that is the only way you can get situations controllable. Since we lost our dog I keep fretting that it will all start again.
