Does anyone in the tri-cities area have maybe 3 or 4 hatching eggs of any friendly breed bantam or full sized, that a friend of mine could buy tomorrow? It's a bit short notice, but I got her hooked on the hatching bug and she is getting my incubator tomorrow and I collected a 3 of my eggs, but only have 1 hen laying right now and I have never hatched anything from her successfully yet. My friend has 2 little girls and I just wanted to make sure that they won't be disappointed if nothing hatches out of mine after 21 days, so I suggested getting a few more as a backup plan in case that mine are duds.

Hey yall (and welcome newbies) Ive been out of town for a bit and out of touch. Does not look like I missed too much though, are we getting that boring? LOL

Any way.. those seven hatches are doing great and going out to the outside floor brooder tomorrow. The little OE cross hatch from the OE I got from Nella is going to be fluffy cheeked and feather legged, we are praying she is going to be a she

I think she will def give us some sort of color on the eggs.
My father in law found someone in NW Carolina that has about 12 dif. breeds of day old - week old chicks for sale straight run at a dollar a piece, so I picked up 5 ameraucana's. Hopefully I get at least 3 hens out of the deal. The Dels are doing great and I will show both roos and at least one hen from the breeders that I got from Stacy to double check conformation at the Cocke County spring show. They are looking really good to me so far, especially the 2 roos (Stacy, I did cull that one. Checked his crop well and did not find anything. I think it was the Tate roo that you wanted me to check, right?) His conformation was getting worse and he was pretty mean and rough on the girls.

Yes, I have three hens and two boys. LOVE them... love the feathering, the egg color is extremely dark at first and fades with the year... as with all dark layers. I'm playing with the idea of breeding one pair... two of the three hens are not SQ but the one and the roos are. I keep swearing to gear down but I love alot of different breeds for alot of different reasons. lol

That's a good ways from me. I don't know when I will be down that way. You said wheaten marans have darker eggs. Do you have one of those?

If your friend can wait until Tuesday....I will be passing thru there on the way to Mountain City. I'll donate 4 or 5 for a test hatch. What kind of enabler would I be if I didn't? LOL

Tell your friend to use the extra few days to make certain everything is stable ?

@Beaker.... I'm going to link to that Video from the web site. I had seen it before but I think it is worth posting for some of the new folks.

I'm sure you have seen footage similar to this, but it's worth reminding us all of why many of us got involved with BYC
!

I would beg everyone...please don't buy eggs from the grocery stores

I think I may have found a few for her that I can pick up after work 3 minutes from where she lives, so I think she will have enough. But thank you so much for offering, her girls are going to have a blast, they are both a bit older and very gentle and careful, maybe I can get them to suscribe on here. I already got a co-worker hooked who is not getting chickens, but peacocks
