Bummer. Bummer...Bummer!!!!!

I just found out my sons graduation is at 10:30 on the day of the chicken show!!!!!!!!!

I thought it was the second Saturday. I have almost 50 eggs that I am hatching out for this show. But I cannot miss his graduation because he has worked very hard and still has a few more years to go.

Is there any other shows in a 100 mile radius of us that is coming up soon?

Nooooo! I don't want to set up beside anyone else!

Thanks! I think I may need to find a home for the 12th chick, I'm thinking it may not make it without some TLC, I think it may have stayed in the egg too long. It's one leg is moveable, but can't support itself. I have it in the bird cage by its self, I may add another one for company, but keeping them all with the one may kill it

My least favorite part of hatching is figuring out what's best for the ones that fail to thrive.

I checked back on this thread too late, after I decided to put the chick back under mama and hope for the best. When I went out this morning it was out of the nest and dead. I console myself that it wouldn't have made it even if I'd brought it in. It was just barely hanging on last night, even after it was warm again.

I pulled the infertile eggs from the good bator so I can move the SLW eggs in for hatching.

Sergeant, my SLW cockerel, is breeding the girls, but I don't think he's doing it effectively. (I've seen him make all the right moves completely sideways on the girls) I've been putting off replacing him with my backup boy, Lou (Lieutenant).

Your chicks are so cute, Stang. It's good to see happy endings.

Sorry to hear about all the issues....makes mine seem like no big deal.

One Del. is damaged from being favorite of two roosters, one has some broken feathers, and the other one that is not damaged; I never thought would show that well. Not sure if I will enter that last one or not. UGHH. May just be selling, but of course they look like crap which means I almost give them away

11 chicks, a 12th zipping. I think that's all that will be hatching, but will give the last ones another day since I can't tell if there is any pipped or not... though after #12 gets hatched and dried I will be moving them to the temporary tote brooder..

bairo - I'm glad you like him! I thought he was really sweet, glad he'll be your herd buck. Question: What day was Ninja chicken born?

tnbarnqueen - what day was the maran born?

I'm trying to keep track of all these different days... Does anyone remember how old the cochin rooster is? tennesseeckn???

Your blue maran hatched in the afternoon on 12/15.

I am going to do what I can. I am taking the ones I am showing the evening before. If I can find a teen I would pay them $25 to stay with them while I am going. If I leave at 9...grad is at 10 so I should be back around 12 at the latest. Anyone have a teen for hire ??? Between what I have growing out and what will be hatching for the show I will have at least 40 -50 and they have got to go. I don't want to go to the flea market so am looking for more shows close enough to drive to if I can't work things out for this one. Another idea I had was to leave my blazer in our selling spot and leave the chicks inside to stay warm. The others I can just sit out and leave til I get back. If we are together Daphne they would have someone to make sure no one swipes them. Think that will work??

Terry....Im sure if we all set up side by side, between me and Daph we can make sure they are watched. Make a sign for them for the breeds and prices and I'll make certain they are ok. I dont even know now if I'll show anyway because of the Dels looking so bad so I'll just be sitting out there. I think all I'm bringing is the Dels and the Reds and maybe a couple the young EE's that I dont care for the color on.

Thank you so much Bario...if you want you can set yours with mine. If it was not for the hatchlings I did for this show I would just show and spectate..but it would be nice to get some sold and some funds to add fencing....again. ;-) You guys are so wonderful and I do appreciate you so very much. I will make the signs up and have them priced...thanks again Bario,,
