Sorry I couldn't get any pics today my camera needs charging. I will try to get some tomorrow & post them. I just checked my calendar and think they are around 10 weeks old.

Out of the 3 definite pullets I lost 1 yesterday. They have all been free ranging & I let the bigger rooster out of isolation while I cleaned his house. He appeared to to fine with them & was more concerned with the older pullet & 2 hens. Stupid me I had him confined because he was starting to do the drop winged happy dance around the mid sized pullets and I let him out

. I don't know if he scared her out in the woods & something got her or what. I feel like such an idiot for not putting him back up sooner.

Thanks for trying to help.

Littlechicklet - I have to agree with bairo - pullet was first to come to mind, but I'm not 100% on that idea, just because of how the tail looks like it's starting to curl downwards.

Ok, sorry I have not been on in a while. I have been in and out of doctor appointments, rabbit club meetings, and my friend who raises rabbits did a huge downsizing and gave me some rabbits, so as a thank you I let her have my duo of Ameracaunas that I got from tennesseeckn. She keeps them as pets and will take great care of them Daphne! She had almost lost her whole flock due to a predator and I knew she really wanted some. Anyways, due to all the confusion going on I was downsizing on my chickens. I'm down to 6! I've got my Cochin rooster Frederick and his ninja gf (the deleware), his soon to be gf's 2 cochin pullets and 2 austrolorp pullets. Well I got a call this morning from Meyer Hatchery, I put my name in a drawing for a box of Wyandotte assortment layers and won!

So much for downsizing!

I'm suppose to get them in Sept....

I still have baby bunnies for sale as well... you know you want one, yes you, yes, the one talking to yourself about not needing one, you know you do. It's easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission! Oh, did I read your mind? Hmmm....
what color egg did she end up laying? and did her legs change colors? good to hear Fredrick is still on top of things :)

Brown, a small brown egg. She only recently started to lay. Her legs did change colors, they're not green/willow colored anymore.

Hey guys I have some girls that still aren't laying. Both of my EE's and all of my lavender orps still aren't laying. Is that normal becasue they are 25 weeks old. All my others that are the same age have been laying for the past few weeks now. Maybe I am just too impatient. Also, I have heard talk of putting apple cider vinegar in your chickens water. Does anyone do this and why do people do it.

Anyone have a rooster that is more protective of the babies than the hen? I have a white silky pair (Snow White and Charming) that for the past 2 months have double teamed baby duty and last night the roo was roosting with 3 toddlers under his arms. It was really sweet until he pecked me- our charming is not so charming

That's funny. I think you should count yourself lucky to have such a good boy!

My Wyandotte rooster is like that. I love to watch him with the babies. The fact that he is so big makes it even cuter when he feeds them.

I think it's supposed to be a natural way to protect their digestive system. But it has to be the organic kind with the live cultures in it. The brand I bought was BRAGG. I still have most of the bottle because when you use it you have to change the water out every day and I hate changing water. One of my biggest joys in life is finding a waterer that still has clean water at the end of the day.

You also aren't supposed to use it with the metal waterers, I hear. I'm not sure why not, though.

Stang, congrats on the new bunnies. I'll bet you're just in heaven. I'm glad you found a good home for the wheaties. I knew you'd take good care of them.

Chicklett, I'm sorry to hear about your pullet. Did it happen to show back up?
