Anyone here breed marans? Might be interested in some hens...
I have sold all my blue marans but have a pullet left if you are interested. She should be laying in the next couple months. I also have a mate for her I will throw in if you are interested. I have a friend who also has blue marans. I can check with her as well.

I did a little advertising and merchandising of my farm products this past week.

We had a breakfast/supper at work on our night shift, this past Labor Day.

We fried up 4 dozen eggs, which my pullets supplied.

4 pounds of homeground country sausage and 10 pounds of bacon.

I also brought in a quart of honey off my hives, homemade blackberry and strawberry preserves and jam.

We had a gallon of sausage gravy and a fellow brought in 50 homemade buttermilk biscuits.

The process at work was running good that night so everything went off with out a hitch.

All 16 of us ate like fatt'en shoats.

There were praise sang to the job well done by our chickens.

There orders for farm fresh eggs now.

@chiggerbait

are you coming to the fall show at cocke county in Newport?

I sure would like some honey :) I dont know what your bees have been on, but we prefer the lighter stuff (clover) if you have any and want to bring some to sell.
Right here around my home we had a late freeze that killed about all the Yellow Pouplar and Black Locust Bloom.

That makes up the bulk of my honey production.

The good thing is about all they have had to work has been white clover, which has bloomed all summer long, except for that dry spell we had in June.

The bad thing is they don't make the pounds of production on clover like they do on Hardwood bloom.

Around here the only thing that makes dark honey is sumac and cut most of that down this spring because it was trying to take the place over.

Joy and I are going to try to attend the Newport show, if not just to say hey to everybody.
