I think most things (animal or human) enter our lives for a reason. We carry our experiences with them always. You were very fortunate to have such a loving rooster and he will be the one all others are judged by. I hope with time you will be able to see what a truly wonderful gift he was to you. If you continue to keep chickens there will be others that will touch your life in a similar way. I just keep thinking of all the pets I have had and how during their "short" time with we I have evolved into a better owner. I am very sorry.

I am also sorry about your migranes. At best doctors provide educated guesses and at worst they throw pills at every symptom and follow it with more pills for the side effects of the pills they gave you first. I hope you find a doctor or doctors you trust and can get the relief you are seeking. If one doctor does not work out do not hesitate to look elsewhere for a doctor who will listen and explore all possible treatment avenues.

My resolve is strong enough to keep myself in check so far.

Thank you... and you are right... problem right now is I have to fight for everything I do. Stupid insurance companies with their stupid lawyers. Sigh.

candled the Dwarf eggs. 5 look like they stopped developing about 4 days ago. So that leaves me with 5 that look good. :( Just like that, half are gone.

He died at 5:30 a.m. We buried him about an hour ago. I love my husband. He hasn't made fun of me one time during all this. And he made a nice little spot for my little man. What is funny is that while Tommy was burying him, Tyrone our golden wyandotte rooster was trying to crow. He wasn't even on the same side of the property as we were. But he was giving it his all. He crowed for a good fifteen minutes. Isn't that odd?

One of the guineas flew into dogs today and got killed. I didn't even cry. Bad week. But it was enough to make Tommy and me start laughing. See Plymouth went through a stage where he thought he was a big bad rooster. He decided one day to show off to the girls and strutted right up to one of them and started weaving in and out like he was trying to pick a fight. We saw it just in time to shoo him off the hill. But he had already acomplished the whole "I'm gonna whoop you" in front of his flock. He thought he was something.

Tommy got one of his tail feathers for me. He was just growing them pretty good. Thought I might frame it. He WAS my first chicken. Loved him. Felt odd going out today and knowing he wasn't there.

We have cleaned cleaned cleaned. We cleaned out all the coops, nesting boxes and scraped all the sand out. (not using sand again) I've cleaned every feeder and water container. Plymouth's girlfriend wouldn't go in the coop last night. She kept waiting. Isn't that odd how they know someone is missing?

Anyways, sappy here is going to chill out today. Thank you so much for putting up with my rambling. I know the guys would like to shoot themselves over me being so emotional. Can't help it.

Rodney, I know he was a little old for it but if you look at the link, he had all the symptoms. Remember before when we treated with penicillin and I said he was hunched? And then the blood in the stool - when we cleaned today, we found two poops with it. I never noticed it before - I think he got pnuemonia also. Those nipple buckets are going to be perfect. I clean the water buckets every day - and every day they are yucky. We tried sand, but it was not as great as all the threads lead me to believe. And I had straw in their nesting boxes. I removed it.

As a side note (and I don't know the connection yet) but everytime he got really bad, I had just given everyone rooster booster. (the flock fuel kind). It was rainy both times and I thought it would be good. Within 24 hours both times, he went from crowing to hunched and quiet.

Okay, I'm done with the bad stuff - someone tell me something good.

Stang, how are those eggs?

Will update as they grow as well... I know you're a FB friend and probably already saw them, but here's more baby bunny photos!

BTW: my husband named the solid blue doe Stitch, every time he's seen her in the pictures says she looks like Stitch from that cartoon movie Lelo and Stitch... LOL! So she's been named now!

They look just like little balls of fur right now with eyes. Too cute. When they are that young, do they have personalities?

Oh yes! LOL, it is sooo funny to watch them play... the little blue one even was growling! They'll just be sitting there and then jump up in the air like a Mexican jumping bean... These are very friendly at their age, but momma is friendly so they are curious when I walk in, the moment I have the door open they're at it wanting to know what is up.
