Amy,

Do you sell hatching eggs from your Guineas.

I am wanting to set some for a New Years Day Hatch.

Or does anyone else have Guineas hatching eggs for sale?

Just send me a PM if you do.

I would like to buy from my friends if possible.

Mom and dad like to drive so if someone here has them we could pick them up.

I would hate to have them shipped in but would if I had too.

My GF's mom has been saying for years that she would like to have some.

This would be a good time to put Guineas where her mouth is.

Guineas don't lay any eggs in the fall/winter. They will more than likely start in March (maybe maybe late February). My plan is to get an incubator (in the closet) lol and try to hatch some. I have 9. I think four of them might be female. So I may look at twelve eggs a week. I'm not going to let them hatch - going to buy wooden eggs. We have too many predators in the woods behind me. I have lavender, pearl gray and royal purple. The keets were so cute and the lavenders were my favorite, but as they grow - loving the pearl grays. The man we got them from has raised them for over 8 years. He lives in the city of Knoxville, and his neighbors don't care because they get all the bugs. He's going to try blue. (breeding) If you want to wait it out until spring, I'll hook you up. Either I will have some or the dude I got mine from will have a bunch.

Rodney, no chance of racoons. We have 9 traps set up all over the property. But I had not considered mice. I have started shortening my feed amount. I notice the guineas lose a lot because they fly all ove the place and it gets dumped. I am letting them out more and more everyday. I am walking them (like a shepard) down to the grassy area. How would I know if I have mice? How would I catch them without endangering my free ranging?

And apologies for all the grammer mistakes (I wrote houseing). I don't have time to read stuff and type.

And if someone could have taken a video of me this morning on my knees in chicken poop in the middle of the run trying to show the girls those water nipples, you all would crack up. Rodney, I forgot my chickens ALL have brain damage. But I refuse to suck on one of those nipples so they can "get it." I figure they will get thirsty and figure it out.

take their regular waterer away from them for several hours, and then go out and peck at the nipples with your finger.

itsthelaw.... have I met you before? I cannot stop thinking I have seen you somewhere before. TSC in Athens? Sweetwater? It is haunting me... help me out.

I did my annual "rake all of the leaves from the front yard and stuff them all in the runs" event. My back is broken, but they LOVE the leaves. They were hanging around in the run, raking through leaves instead of taking advantage of the open run and coop doors.

I also changed out everyone's litter. Fortunately, one of my wheaties made sure there wasn't any food getting accidentally tossed out with the litter.

Ah! Chicklet, please tell me your orp boys have some huge wattles. My little splash "girl" looks like she's trying to grow some. And they're pink!!!! Her older sister doesn't even have nubs. I don't need another splash boy!!!

Speaking of boys, I'm going to have to give up six cockerels. They're starting to feel their oats. I was going to call Wisner's to see if they were interested in just taking them. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that they "bleed" the birds they butcher. I can't help but think that a quick head lop is more humane. Anyone on here "loppers" and interested in some boys? Here's two orps to give you an idea of their size. I also have four SLW boys. Juveniles aren't supposed to be susceptible to ILT, but I would still be sure to make sure they had no contact with a flock that wasn't vaccinated. Even carriers are considered absolutely safe for human consumption, though.

tennesseeckn- I am so sorry but the only one I have with wattles is the one confirmed cockerel. The others have some nubs if that helps. I took their weekly update pics but they did not turn out very well. I ran out before dark while I was cooking to snap a few.

Here's the babies I hope they grow up to be as beautiful as yours!

front: black pullet?, middle: blue runt pullet?, rear: cockerel

If I got oral herpes after eating one, I'd be so mad at you! lmao....

Sorry, but I find it harder to butcher a bird I got to butcher. Seems more cruel somehow. On that note: Surely you can find homes for them or are all your birds possible carriers now? I love SLWs... but rather have bantams now. Big birds = big bills. (and since I'm no longer helping your cause I'll shut up

Hey! Fever blisters are WAY better than the other form.

You're not supposed to get either, even if they're carriers. Just like humans can't get chicken lice...

I probably could give them away since they were never cooped with any of the birds that had symptoms, but I'm so paranoid! What if someone took them, then their other birds got it from a wild bird? Or my boys were the only exception to the juveniles-don't-get-it rule? You know my luck. My boys would TOTALLY be the exception. So, I'd rather give them to someone who knows the score and is looking for meat for the freezer.

I'm totally the opposite. I would much rather butcher other people's birds.
