I've also had some bad luck--I sprained my ankle yesterday and cannot walk and in a lot of pain. I'm so sorry I can't come and meet all of you--please fill me in on what it was like if you get a chance. I'm so sorry about your hen.

Good morning everyone! Headed out to Kennewick. Would love to meet you all down there. Raise your hand if you want my cell number, so we can coordinate.
Sorry I didn't see your post - no time to get on BYC before leaving! I did manage to meet up with pipsandpeeps and fintuckyfarms, though!

I had a great time at the show! I managed to get away with bringing home one wheaten Ameraucana Bantam chick and two eggs (one wheaten, one chocolate, Ameraucana Bantams), courtesey of pipsandpeeps! Thanks so much! :) The lone chick made it back safely to it's new housemates, and they quickly accepted it, after staring at it for a few minutes! It is doing really well! :) I slipped the eggs underneath my broody, and she was very happy about that... I'm working on getting my incubator set up, but it's being funky, so I thought why not just put them under the broody until I can sort it all out? :p I don't want to leave them under her because she has already been broody for a few weeks now (with only a golf ball to try and hatch, and a duck egg every morning), and I don't want to risk her suddenly snapping out of the broodiness mid-incubation.

Hi there! Unfortunately I missed the 4H event today but I'm looking for some dual purpose birds, more egg than meat. Australorps, Wyandotte or pullets would be nice but I'm open. I'm a first timer so am also looking to make connections in TC to other BYC folks. Please let me know if you can guide me toward my first chickies!

Hi there and welcome to BYC

Where do you live? Feed stores have chicks in now--did you try that? If you want private breeder chicks troll this site and look for folks that have the breeds you want and then contact to see if they offer any or know of someone that does. I'm sorry I know of no one that is raising the breeds you want. I do have 2 private breeder Jersey Giants I would sell you for $5 each, they are 1 week old. Also I have 3 silkies, 2 mos old and 1 French Black Copper Maran, 1 month old.

Major bummer! I did eventually make it but didn't stay as long as I'd have liked (dh & ddwere with me and aren't as interested, the bums). I was super impressed with the gorgeous, monster-sized Cochins, adorable variety of bantams and the various other game birds there! Good thing DH was with me or I would've come home with something!

Yes, those Cochins were amazingly poofy! Those were REAL Cochins, compared to the hatchery Cochin bantams that my friends have been getting for years! :p And did you see that buff Silkie's crest? Oh my goodness... :D
