Eastern Washington

Y'all, I am having the hardest time finding a chick source. I feel like I missed the boat on this year's batch. Do any of you have any suggestions on feed stores or other BYCers that have chicks? I feel weird messaging people.

I have cream legbars and a "barnyard mix".... Cream Legbar roo over welsummer, light sussex, and blue-laced wyandotte.... They should lay everything from olive to blue eggs. I have hatching eggs but could incubate them for you. 3 weeks to hatch from the day I set them. Cream Legbars can be sexed at hatch, but the rest would be straight run. PM me if interested.

Also, for hatchery chicks NW Feed in WW is still getting some chicks in, and EFC Equipment in Richland and Border Town Feed in Milton Freewater were ordering chicks for people last year.

Good Luck!

I know that "the country store" in spokane will have chicks come in through June... Big R has them through this month.

Good luck!!:)

I discovered something really cool last night! I was candling my eggs (during their 5th day of incubation), and discovered that I can see the heartbeats of the chicks!!! In all of my years, I have never been able to see that, but I think it may have something to do with the blue eggshells. These are the first blue eggs that I have ever incubated. The heartbeat looked like a quickly pulsating light. Whether it's the shell color or the fact that the shells are thin, I don't know, but for some reason, I can easily see the growth of the chick! I can clearly see the chick in the middle with the circle of blood vessels around it, the heartbeat, and today I could see the growing eye of one of the chicks!!! This is the coolest incubation I have ever done!

Yes, heartbeats are fun to watch. So glad they are progressing nicely!

Last chance before the butcher.....

Need to rehome an EE cockerel. He is a cull from a pure Araucana flock. I have 3 roosters in the same pen and the girls are taking a beating so one has to go.
