Nice! Black Orpingtons?

They are Black Australorps and they look miserable in this heat.

All of my chickens are panting. I put shallow pans of water and quite a few will wade in them to cool down, but most of them just suffer through like the rest of us! No losses, at least :-/

I give mine treats of frozen fruit, in addition to pans of cool water to wade in (they won't generally get into high-walled things like kiddie pools). I just don't give them so many treats that it messes up their regular diet too much. When it's super hot, I put frozen gallon jugs of water out where they like to rest. They can choose if they want to be near them or not. So far so good. Last year was worse as far as long extended periods of horrible heat, and they girls made it through then. This year has been much more manageable, so far.

the sprinklers make all the difference. Here is a weird thing, we had dime sized hail last night, one of my two week old chicks was acting odd after it. And died today... :( I think it might have taken a hail ball to the head.

Oh that's sad. My Grandma told me a golf ball size hail hit her pig when she was a girl in South Dakota and it was always mentally not right after that.
I got a mister for $11.00 at Big R and keep it on by my lilacs. The chickens hang out by it all day. The ducks won't go in their little pond because the water is warm and a lot of wasps are drinking from it now. Even the bugs are thirsty out there

My chickens have learned the sprinkler rotation, and they move to the next section as soon as the previous one turns off.
