Eastern Washington

I talked to her but couldn't go last weekend. She didn't respond to me after asking about this weekend since her weekdays are busy. So I'll wait and see if she still has chicks.

Are the bantams much louder than ther seramas and still friendly? Those are a couple bonuses so I can take the little guy with me when I go to chicken friendly places.

@littleredwagon I checked my craigslist app, 3 days ago someone in your area posted that they had serama hatching eggs...price was $20...but wasn't clear about how many for that price...I just put serama in the all for sale search bar...good luck...I know you have your heart set on serama, but if you can't find one easily, banties are the next size up and I have a sneaky suspicion a couple of my latest hatch of frizzles are roos...

Not familiar with serama at all, I have 2 bantam roos and they don't crow much more than my EE roo...there's three of them So they tend to egg each other on...the 2 adults I have, haven't warmed up to me yet, I got them in February guessing about 6 months old...the ones in the brooder, in the house get handled every day...so they will be very tame...there is a bantam thread here too...people there have more experience, I just got started with banty in February...

Yeah, I might have to go banty. Chochins are cute and frizzle, quieter too. I'm going to have to start my research!

Mine are bantam cochin, well three of them are...one is a mystery...I was told he was cochin, but apparently his body shape is wrong... I think you Can see the pics I've posted by clicking on my name... I just took pics of the 4 banty cochin frizzle babies and posted them on the bantam thread...

I saw them. Super cute. I just love birds and chickens especially. I figure as long as they are handled correctly, youll have sweet birds.
Maybe Romeo is part RR?

How do your cochin lay? And how much space do you use?

Sizzles are pretty **** cute so I might have to get a silkie too.

I have them penned in pairs, wanted to get some strictly bantam eggs from them before I Let them out in gen pop...lol

Turns out judging by the colors I ended up with I didn't wait long enough after separating them in pairs to have calico with calico and Romeo with Dixie...as it looks like I have a couple of calico frizzles... Live and learn...

One pair is in a 5ft × 5ft pen/hutch the other is a little larger...

Dixie is setting right now, when she was laying it was almost daily. Callie every other day...

I'm thinking about letting them free range soon...problem with that is Doc Jr my EE has already takin a real dislike to Romeo...they fight through the pen every other day...Doc JR hasn't even looked twice at Valentine the calico roo though...

I am going to have to sell the frizzles roos as well or at least not hatch any of Dixies future eggs if I have them together...frizzle + frizzle = frazzle that's really bad feathering, and health problems and possible defects...

In the realm of chicken breeding experiments though I have a pretty light Brahma pullet that I would like to cross with the blue frizzle roo! Lol she is supposed to get to 10 lbs...just the logistics of that cross seem comical to me! That's if the little blue is a roo...I'm not sure yet...if not...there is another blue chick that might be a roo and I could try him maybe...

Roos are so hard to sell unless they are pure bred, the bantams Will be easy, but the larger ones may end up in the freezer...

@CowboysAngelAnd I thought you said you were a newbie, haha!! Thank you so much for the info :) I have a hutch I'm converting into a coop inside my fenced garden (with green house so they don't eat my spinach).

Yeah, it's too bad they don't get more love. Roosters are so funny and cute.I don't see the point of purebreed unless it's for show or health.

Been raising chickens for 4 years, new to this whole breeding thing...and the small breeds...just got my first bantams and frizzle in February...

I like to read...Google is just one big never-ending encyclopedia! With a fiction novel twist or two occasionally! Lol

I love to learn, and you learn by doing, reading, experimenting...If you aren't learning something New everyday...you might as well just lie down and die... :)

Have a nice night...I'm gonna hit the hay! Gonna take the lils out for some air tomorrow weather permitting... After the noise and ruckus they were making tonight...I just May move some of them outside permanently! Oi! My brooder is too small for 29 chicks!

I'm used to parrots or the odd injured baby bird. I definitely know I need some frizzle. Cochin are already so fluffy in the first place it's ridiculous.

I do the exact same thing :) I'm going crazy by not being in classes, although I despise the busy work. I've been reading about chickens constantly. My family doesn't even know about chicken math yet.

Better get enough sleep to keep up woth them tomorrow!!! Good night
