Have a great Wednesday everybody!
Sooooo exciting! Have you had chickens before?

chickengarden... nope... this is our first time! so excited... I built their chicken mahal from scratch so to speak -- only took me 4 tries to get it how I wanted it! Have their little brooders all ready to go so all we need is the peeps!!

maggierose, I'm so excited for you! Only a few more days!!! This will be my first time with chicks too, except for when I was a kid.Be sure and let us know how it goes.

ChaeBird, how's your hen doing? Haven't heard from you if she started laying again.

chickengarden, I'm so amazed at all the farm friends you've got. That's neat that you've got a turkey too. I understand they have some sort of natural immunity to Mareks disease, and spread this resistance on to any chickens living with them. It's way better than trying to vaccinate your own flock.
I thought of you and your little goats the other day when I saw this mini farm and a dark colored mother sheep snoozing by the barn with her white baby on her back! So darned cute!
Sad about your Red Oak. When we moved here 17 years ago I planted one in the middle of what would be our front yard. Unfortunately, it didn't make it. I've always regretted it that I didn't plant another as it would be a beautiful shade tree now. Moral of the story; Plant another tree. It might not be big enough for a tree house for your kids, but it will be for theirs.

Can hardly believe it's Friday already, and best news of all...Spring weather starts Monday!!!

That's awesome. Last year was our first time with chickens. We absolutely loved it. Well, so much so that we sold our house and moved to the country to have more animals.

That's a sweet image about the sheep.
We are having a lot of fun with our animals. Here's a link to my blog if you want to meet them :) http://saltspringsprout.wordpress.com/meet-our-farm-animals/
I planted 13 trees on that property. I was intensely impatient for them to grow. I wanted my kids to be able to climb in them. But you are right, somebody's kids will get to.

Yesterday we picked up our 5 little female ducks from the post office. Here's a photo of Hazel, the Snowy Mallard because she's the tiniest:

Vicki, are you making promises about the weather? We have had such a cold wind lately and I'm ready to warm up!

Been uber busy the last couple days. Got the new pig fence up, behind the barn cleaned up, two greenhouses on the raised beds, new door on the puppy house, yard cleaned, lumber shed built, and 1 cord of firewood stacked! I'm tired tonight!

Tomorrow I measure and cut lumber for the new coop!

Wow, I envy your energy, although not the amount of work you had to do!!

All my babies have been moved outside, yay! Had a mini freak-out a few days ago when it dipped below freezing the other night, but they all did good. So happy to not have to clean the brooders anymore this year! Hope no one is getting damage from all this wind, yuck!!!

Vicki... woohoo I'll hold you to that nice weather comment! I'm so ready... this wind is getting old, even for the Gorge!

chickengarden... your pictures of your little ducks is just darling... so dang cute!

Going to try to tackle the back 40 today... in other words, mow the lawn! haha... if the rain holds... we'll see!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Carrie'sPeeps, I admire your energy too, sounds like the worst of your work is done, that's a good thing, unlike

chickengarden who has so many adorable farm friends that I think she may need help just getting everyone fed. What a happy life she has carved our for her family though. Hazel, what a cute name for that sweet baby duck! Who did you order them from?

maggierose, get ready for some gorgeous weather and your baby peeps!

I'll be hauling some of that heavy Hardi-plank back to the lumber yard this a.m. Had a few left over pieces I want gone.
