Eating their eggs

My chickens are eating their eggs before I can get to them
Wake up early to collect them. Put some Easter eggs or ping pong balls in there so they discouraged from breaking them. If you really have to, google how to blow out an egg shell and put something like mustard in it. Chickens have poor tastebuds, so it would have to be something strong.

Thank you for your reply. I will definitely try both

Fake eggs in the nests might help, hard and heavy ones, not ping pong balls.
Mustard filled eggs do not work n the majority of cases......just more mess to clean up.

Tell us more about what you are finding/seeing.
Are you finding any shell remaining in the nests?
I assume this is happening in the nests.
Is the shell thin and weak?
Are they new layers?

This info might help us help you too....
-your flock size(numbers, ages, genders),
-your coop(size in feet by feet with pics),
-and what and how exactly you are feeding,
might offer clues to if there is a solvable problem.

The eggs I am finding are outside the coup on the ground in the run. I inroduced 5 new Easter eggers about a month ago. The older chickens pick on them.

Ahhh...the plot thickens!

As well as other questions above.....

The beggars are about 15 months and were laying at their former home. The shells seem to be alittle thinner.
