eBay silkie eggs?

I would look at the feedback, and if you do see anything like that with the genetics and deformaties, then dont purchase from them. Since it happened 3 times with that buyer, then its probably genetic.

ETA: of course, no body else had these problems, just that one nasty buyer.

What I gather from that feedback, it's the buyer who has the genetic defect. That feedback reads like someone who didn't have a clue, botched the hatch with varying temps, etc. Then probably tried to weasel some free replacement eggs, and when the eggs weren't replaced, left spiteful feedback in the most damaging way that they could think of (genetics). The subsequent reply to the BYC'er who asked about the auctions supports my theory. JMHO.

All of the eggs that I got from her hatched at about 80% for shipped eggs, and all of my chicks from those eggs have eyes.

I think that as a general rule you have to side with the seller when it comes to feedback about shipped eggs. Just one glance through the "hatching eggs" section of BYC, and the questions and problems that you read there, shows anyone that there are a lot of clueless, inexperienced people trying to hatch shipped eggs. Many of these inexperienced, first time hatchers are the ones buying the Ebay eggs, and when something goes wrong, automatically blame the sellers for sending them "infertile" eggs, even though the eggs spent 21 days with no water in the bator at 110 degrees in a shiny new bator that arrived on their doorstep the same day as the eggs.

I have nothing against people trying to learn hatching, we all had to start somewhere, but it sure looks like the excitement of it all gets to many, and they put the "cart before the horse".

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the negative feedback was all from the same buyer, so I pretty much disregarded it. I did post in the BST forum about the eggs before I bought them, and there are quite a few people on here that have gotten silkie and millie eggs from her. No one said anything about deformities or anything like that, so I think it was just an inexperienced buyer, that just expected everything to go perfectly. They probably used the thermometer that came with the bator which arrived the same day the eggs did

Wow...that nasty buyer e-mailed me 3 seperate more times besides the initial email, cussing me out and telling me to mind my own business...etc. She is a NUT!!! She told me I was harrassing her...that's all I did was offer her help for spraddle leg! Everyone stay away from her...she needs help. I never once cussed at her or yelled at her...I am SO confused as to why she was so nasty...

I have purchased silkie eggs from her 4 times and mille fleur duccles from her twice and have had an excellent hatch everytime. All the babies grew up to be just as pretty as the ones she has pictured. Definitely worth your money if you have success incubating eggs. Sorry, I don't have a picture of mine on this computer to share.

M@M@2four :

Oh my word...so I emailed the person that left negative feedback on 1234Muki, just to offer them help with the spraddle leg. I just wanted to tell them that that could be easily fixed and that it does sometimes happen due to the chick taking a bit lomger to hatch...they e-mailed me back with this nasty reply:

"great! I am glad YOU like genetic defect birds. I will make sure to not bid on any of your birds! I personally like MY birds to have EYES when they hatch!"

That is ONE nasty person...I e-mailed them back and asked why they were so hostile...I explained that sometimes the PO is rough on handling eggs and x-ray machines may have been the cause as well...I was really trying to help! yikes!!!

Wow. I guess feelings are still sensitive about the issue. It probably was problems during the incubation process. The purpose of feedback on Ebay is to notify others of their transaction. Sometimes you get some who are honest, but sometimes you get people who are out to screw people over. Would if they provided proof that the chick didn't have eyes? Or if the chick died in the incubator and then they left it there until it started to... ummm... die and dry out... making it look like it didn't have eyes?

Take it with a grain of salt. Or in this case - sugar!

That was the seller for the chick in the picture. The hatch rate was great and the chicks are adorable and the ones we kept are still healthy. Most had vaulted heads.
