EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

It's illegal in this country to sell your kids.
I'm compelled to report you to Child Welfare Services in MO
I saw the post before I saw who posted it and I was thinking the same thing.

Yes, I have been reading trying to learn. I have not read about crossing yet. The biggest danger will be if I can't find someone to go with me. Oh well, I am alone for most things I do anyway. My friend Kristen is thinking about it though. She just is not sure if she can get the week off in August so she could at least do that week with me.
How about looking into some of these groups.
I think the first three may be right up your alley.
The fifth one is a huge very active group where you may find a fellow traveler.

This being the busiest thread I figured I would ask on here...

I need ideas for breeding pens

I breed sizzles on a small scale and am redoing a 20x10 dog kennel tomorrow.(that is going to be roofed and sided)

I have 5 foot metal panels I usually use to separate my trios and also chicks.

Just looking to do something new and ergonomic to flow better.

Thanks

I only do LF but I have a hexagon building split down the middle with 3 breeding units on one side and 2 on the other. I can access all roosts, nest boxes and feeders from a covered hallway between the two so it makes it easier in inclement weather. Each unit has access to two or more paddocks.

Okey dokey, been browsing thru the notes and noticed one thing I can't find much of is stuff on cold weather egg shipping... And I got curious.

What's y'all's experiences been with cold weather egg shipping? I see suggestions to add heat packs, but how does a 8hr heat pack keep eggs safe for 48+ hours?

What's the coldest you've had eggs get yet still hatch?

...

Eggs can take short temps down to about 30F. It can be just above freezing for a longer period without damage.

You can get heat packs for all sorts of time lengths. 20, 30, 40, 60hr. etc..
