Cool and rainy here all day yesterday but it's already gearing up to be a hot one today. Temps are a roller coaster ride here. Jeans one day swim suit the next!

If I may, the best method IMHO is to use a butane / propane burner. it burns all the little feathers stucked in the colth and it sanitize EVERYTHING!

Including the wood!!!! Sanitize it right into ash!

Mine are 4x8 in size, I have a door on both ends on opposite corners (kitty corner from each other).

I just reach in and clean them. I use a "shop" dust pan (steel) to clean the bulk of the bedding out. I use a 6 inch putty knife on the small clean up and a whisk broom.

I have 2 gallon garden sprayers I use a bleach mixture in to spray it and let it dry between birds.
Seems to work.

I'm getting a VEEEEERY late start - I was up early and got the scalder going and the brush cleared/cut near the processing station, and about an hour later realized that the GFCI outlet had tripped and the water wasn't heating. So I reset the outlet, plugged it in, and just went back to bed waiting for it to heat. I sorta feel asleep kinda heavy...

Sooooooo... temps are good, having my coffee with a PB&J "breakfast" and about to start. Good thing I had set aside all day for this and didn't plan for anything else.

I know as a medical person you will go nuts on this..BUT my measuring system is dump enough in to make e happy. pump it and spray it..


I use 1 ounce to a gallon of water for disinfecting eggs (I actually measure) I use stronger in the pens as I figure it can't hurt to over do it.

You don't have to use it until it gets fire, you just pass jently on the surface, try it and you will see.
