Ah! I wondered if that was the concern. I work in neurodiagnostics and am meticulous when it comes to infection control.He's saying don't candle because he is of the opinion it will introduce bacteria and harm the eggs. It won't if you're careful.
It's a matter of great debate among those that hatch eggs. You have to come to your own decision eventually on whether or not to candle. I suggest candling anyway while you're learning what humidity levels to keep in your incubator.
What about it is confusing you? The air cell is at the blunt end of the egg.

This is sort of embarrassing but I can't tell what I'm looking for! lol I think one spot is an air cell then I'm not sure.
