EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have access to three sliding glass doors that I was going to incorporate into a coop. Thanks for the ideas. I also use 5 gallon buckets for a heat sink. The buckets also work in summer for cooling. When it’s too hot the chickens will all dig in around the buckets. The barns foundation is just behind the buckets so they are also getting cooler from the cement mass.
Not that we get too cold.
You will have to post pictures of what you do.

These are beautiful cocks in all kinds of colors.
They sure are. Do they have the Spangled varieties? Those are my favourites. I like the DP body shape better but the games still are impressive. Good breeding of any type leaves its mark on a bird, and those birds (in general) are well bred.

Would you please explain what you did with the buckets and what it does?

I have no idea. I can snap a few pictures if I remember. What do those look like? I don't know my types at all.

I have lined the north wall of the barn with approximately 40, five gallon buckets filled with water stacked. Buckets were free from painters no way would I buy that many. Water cools a bit at night and helps during heat of day. I also have a fan running in summer with an automatic vent on roof of coop.
In winter sun shines on them most of day due to southern exposer of glass panels, staying warmer in winter. This was originally going to be green house but plants didn’t do well in so much light. This picture was taken in September around 3 in afternoon the sun now hits the buckets most of day.
Chickens roost between buckets on shelving.
The rooster in this picture isn’t that tall. The buckets have 4” of deep litter around them. He is as tall as a 5 gallon bucket and is one of three roosters I need to make a choice on which to keep. It is a really funny sight to see him trying to fit between buckets. Like an ostrich sticking head in sand.

Guys I am not trying to divert the thread so if please PM if you know anyone who might be interested in a gaited Peruvian Paso gelding in need of a new owner who has time. He has a lot of potential, but he is just green broke. I simply don't have time to take on a new horse. Especially with a healing rotator cuff.
