EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Almost 2 decades.

I. Don't. Know. I did get to watch my duck hatch ducklings back in September but I've never done it, never even had a broody hen, just a broody pekin duck, which aren't supposed to go broody

Well watch out, coz you're about to become addicted.... I suggest having a therapist on speed dial.

I made a mistake and used BYC as therapy.... They just enabled me. <sigh>

Nu skin as CC has used on the cracks. Not sure of spelling
Danke, knew it was something to that effect

Help! My hygrometer is broken! I accidentally dropped it in water while I was moving things around in the incubator (today is day 18) So I was moving the eggs to lay down, pumping up the humidity, laying down a safe surface for when they hatch, and outside of the incubator had my little bowl of water that I had been keeping in the incubator to keep the humidity around 25% (give or take) and dropped the hygrometer into it. It is a acurite batterery operated one. Dried it off as best I could, changed the battery, but now I can't get it to read right. Temp is not working on it, which is fine, it wasn't accurate anyway and I was using a probe thermometer the whole time. But now, I am assuming it's running about 20-25% off. What can I do to fix it? Or should I just assume it is 20-25% off and subtract that from what it's reading. Right now it is saying my humidity inside the incubator is 85%... Any ideas or advice would be helpful! Thank you so much in advance. I'd like to add that the soonest I could go and look for a new one would be tomorrow, which I plan on doing. I just know that right now is vital!

Maybe try putting in into bag of rice to help dry in out. I wouldn't trust it till it's completely dry if then.
