The first got Clostridium enterotoxemia and while she recovered and seemed to be better she died almost two weeks later overnight with no symptoms. The second was treated for mild Clostridium enterotoxemia, then the next week she got scours, then she stopped taking a bottle and we tried lots of stuff as the vet could not pinpoint it. Without a necropsy we won't know. I have never lost bottle babies before, but these two came from the same place, and I lost them both. I wonder what colostrum they got if they got enough, or what else because they failed to thrive. Bbl, I am just going to continue cleaning out the old hay an

I'm so sorry to hear about you doelings.

I've had a couple of times where a lamb or twins failed to get colostrum in time. One was an older ewe with blocked nipple ducts, probably from mastitis after weaning. I thought they were getting milk. They weren't.
Complete failure to thrive and it went downhill from there. Very frustrating.

Update? it could be a 'bruise on the shell from the duck tapping the shell, could be a bruise from it knicking a vein, could be nothing? what kind of ducks, shipped eggs or local??

i set dirty eggs, never wash my hands and candle whenever i feel like it
my hen doesnt wash her butt before she sits on them so i dont see the point in washing my hands




it was only like 65 here yesterday!!!

I had an egg explode in my incubator. All I did was rinse the eggs off and put them back in to the incubator and wiped the mess out with a wet paper towel. It still reeks a little bit, but until it's empty, I'm not going to bleach it.
I figure it's gross, but all the other eggs have been hatching fine, and I just missed 1 bad egg. It didn't smell until it exploded.

Nope. No pocket, just par for the course. It can be HOT here in the day and almost FREEZING at night. This is our weather for the week.
