For all the stuff I tease (and am sometimes genuinely peeved) my husband about since we can have a difference of opinions...and although he's not into the um, more sensitive sights of vetting and such on the farm...he held my hand the whole time right from 10pm to 6:45 am when the boy was born and he cut the cord and everything. I give him pretty big props for that. :clap :love

Maybe I should think of this when he washes his arms and gets dirt spots all over the sink. :p :lau

I thought mine was going to pass out considering at 36 weeks pregnant I found him on the ground with a cut toe, he'd taken one look at it and flaked out. He also cut the cord on all 3 babies, I'm a little jealous though as I'm desperate to cut one of those suckers.

Anyway, overnight I've now got 5 chicks, more have pipped but not liking the look of some of the ones that have pipped the wrong end. I'm hatching most of these guys for my mum for their farm, to replace their oldies eventually, and I think next time I incubate will use less eggs as it's incredibly squishy in there.

Going to have to sex them too, and eventually learn how to kill and prepare chickens as the roosters will be for eating. I've never done it before, I'm kind of nervous!

Banty fixin stuff is not scarey..
Oh, it is. :lau
I can't keep up with this thread!!
  • Goats are icky and those square eyeballs are creepy
  • Ducks are super cute but stinky
  • Milking can be fun, but I wouldn't want to do it all day
  • And this is where I stopped trying to catch up!
Sounds about right except dux are not icky.

This totally blows the snot out of my plans in the spring. The first male was gunna be Ralphie... :he
You can join the Ralphie club. I think there are three peeps so far with dux named Ralphie, me included.

In the same boat here. I'm probably going to poison everyone by accident because I didn't do it right. :th
